This chopper doesn't have a turret. The cannon does have some depression. I have an idea for this.
Apache is also way more advanced,AH1W would be a better US equivalent

yeah KA-50 is a lot faster and more agile than a more primary attack heli like Apache or Hind. Should fly more like a SuperCobra as Crayon mentioned or heavily armed littlebird
modern RU equivalent to Apache would be Mi-28 for which Strider already made a mod
KA-50 is sick though being an experimental single-seat heli I'm keen to make it a rare spawn on my server since a lot of players want to fly solo even if it's not as capable as a crewed heli
I'm thinking systems,employment,armament and engine power mainly but Ka 50 and AH1W are pretty similar in speed

What does slaved turrets mean
Slaved means who’s controlling it, so pilot slaved would be controlled by the pilot, where as gunner slaved would be controlled by the gunner

The mod I’m referencing allows pilots to independently control turrets separate from the pilot controls, while still piloting the aircraft or vehicle
Because i once requested the ka52 modder to do this thing where the pilot can control the turret but he said it was impossible

The ka52 can in fact let the pilot control the guns, both MFDs show same info so the pilot just need to switch to gunner MFD

The Soviet Union fell in ‘92, this is not Soviet, nor Cold War

The textures look a bit muddy and blurry but it’s otherwise very good!

its pretty cool being able to have a gun angled down as a pilot and just hammer something from above is pretty peak.

Added Flares
Tweaked HUD
Tweaked Light switches and door interactions
Added proper damage state rotor models
Fixed Engine collider to not be one huge box

Eventually, im not nessisarly the biggest fan of rotor blur but ik most ppl are so yes I will add it.
The Mi24A uses base Mi8 rotors.

Unfortunately the autocannon doesn't seem to deal any dmg to armoured vehicles. Also the rotor doesn't break upon impact with trees/structures.
The 30mm isn’t bad imo, there’s a fine line between to weak and OP
It does well air-to-air and vs infantry / light vehicles
It just seems underpowered that a 30mm autocannon can't pierce LAV, while the anti air guns from wcs can.
Imo it could use a little buff so it does dmg to medium armored targets.

No I mean will the rotors break when hitting other props in the world ie. Poles, buildings ect..
you can skip to 1:15 where I test the rotors on the energy pole

@silver lava I've tested it again and rotor doesn't break, also I got problems with using the gun camera from the cockpit
Im testing it on vanilla Everon Game Dev with only ka-50 the other ka mod and game master fx

I used the warhead from the GM Artillery Huge for the FAB-500
That "gun" monitor is unclickable, don't know why because it worked for me yesterday during testing

The armaments work now, the camera also. I didn't know u need to get into the heli manually instead of putting a guy inside and taking control of him as gm

Yes, my 50 recycles my animations from the 27. Maybe at some point I can split it off but thats not a priority rn.

yup, i got both, for me some projects are 4.2, some 5.0
for vehicles i used 4.2, still i know nothing about blender

I was thinking about the classic one for "dog fight" and air support rockets pod and igla, then full vihr rockets and iglas, and one with AGM rockets (the one the apache have)
also while testing with friends we noticed that the 30mm cannon does little to no damage to armored vehicles
Keep in mind this is still wip

to be fair I think the only thing that actually need to be 100% done are the iglas and rockets one

Nah no clue what that is, id need logs from it.
the log spam was an issue with both the 27 and 50. In 30 seconds of flight there would be over 2,000 errors in the log file. thats all fixed

Can it be done like the drone mode where you can control the turret in real time with the arrow keys and zooming in and out too?

the ka-50 gun is missing sounds, tracers and entire destruction model of the helicopter is bugged takes horrendous amount of bullets from any ground vehicle and even after that its only smoking to catch a fire after another good 5 minuts of flying , will all of it get fixe any time soon ?
Think you might have a mod conflict bc it gets killed pretty quick when hit from my gameplay exp and ive had Arma Pilot do testing and it seems to be fine.
Gun has sounds and tracers so im going to say 100% you have a mod conflict.
sound works fine on server full of mods
The audio on the receiving end of the main turret is the issue, aswell as the turret does not seem to log Killer= & Killed=
Maybe good to check on how the AH-6M is handled, that may solve some of these issues with pilot controlled turrets
Its at multiplayer server i Play with other that notice this too, for sure sounds and tracers are missing cause i got it recorded, but that means other mods from the server might do this.

@silver lava is it a know issue that kills taken with KA-50 gun are not visible for servers properly? In our case they are not visible by 2 separate trackers that we use, it seems to be the only vehicle/gun which kills are being omitted
My gun is just a reskin of the WCS UPK so if its an issue it stems from their prefab. Never messed will kill trackers so no clue.
Hey, awesome work on the mod!
I've found some issues (some of which you might be aware of)
- I can't spawn it on regular helipads, I have to do it around them. Also when spawning preview of the model is not pointing where it should and rotors are tilted 90° to the side.
- I'm not able to fully repair rotor if it gets damaged, it always stays at 1 pt damaged
- There are issues with flare deployment. Sometimes it's delayed and sometimes they don't deploy at all. When they don't get deployed at all I think it has something to do with character accessories. For example I noticed that I had binoculars selected and it tried to use them even that I was in gun sight view.
- Sometimes after death gunsight UI get's stuck on the screen until I relog onto the server.
- There are cases when I don't hear I'm getting hit and start burning and dying (might be issues with longer distances and Arma itself.
- Landing gear doesn't retract. Not a dealbreaker, just would be cool to see it.
- In game it can reach top speed of around 200 km/h while IRL it's operational top speed is ~270–300 km/h.
- It's not integrated with access locking and I had it stolen twice! 😅
Ideas for improvement
- Because you don't have gunner and it's harder to aim I think it would be nice to implement helmet-mounted sight gun slew. Ka-50's gun can slew 12° left, 30° to the right and −37° to +3° in elevation.
- It would be nice to have 8x zoom for gun view.

2 things I noticed yesterday that you might be aware of:
- totors have no collisions
- aiming thing feels a bit OP. I'm not sure if it's a periscope or a camera but might have narrower view and maybe less clean, otherwise it will be the only view used to fly it🙂

Why would you not be able to control the bird while looking at the gun cam? Its not like the real KA50 just goes into auto hover and doesn't let you move if you look at the screen.

I’m on work trip so I don’t know first hand, but from what I’m reading some players are asking if the armament widget can be added back in some way. Now that the overlay is on the turret, it blocks the weapon selection & ammo UI at the bottom right. You maybe able to rescale and move the .layout to fit within the viewport?
I’m unsure if you’d be able to bring that UI infront of the overlay

I tried. No matter what layer I put things on the helicopters US always goes under the Camera UI. Just the way WCS codded the feture

Regardless this issue, the flight model is far from accurate, it feels like it weights nothing right now.
They are ment to be laz guided. Not fully set up yet
For armaments update, you’ll need WCS_Armament_WeaponStationComponent
They’ve added some others aswell, may have to look into to get new functions working on yours

Armed helis should have ARMED treat. Your ka-50 seems to have VEHICLE HELICOPTER treat, but ARMED is missing, so it spawns on an ambient spawn for transport only unharmed vehicles
