EE_Helicopter AI Transport

This mod adds a new chopper to the US depot: The UH-1H AI Transport.
It comes with two pilots already in the seats.

How to use it:

Place a map marker and name it “LZ.”

Hop into the helicopter.

Look toward the pilots and click “Ready to go.”
They’ll fire up the engines and fly you to the LZ (or the closest safe spot to land).

Make sure everyone’s on board before you start the ride.
Once you land, the helo will wait until everyone’s out, then take off about 10 seconds later.
That’s the whole process.

Will this work with modded helicopters, like air support from a AH-64? Or a pickup from a CH-53 would be badass

Any helicopter will work as long as it has the EE_HelicopterAITransport component attached to it, and the EE_ActivateHelicopter action in the action manager component

So what will happen if you go into GM and try to take out the AI and try to put it in another helicopter?

It will not work, the AI isn't really piloting, all the logic is in the helicopter. you can change the helicopter quite easily though in workbench

Not quite! but maybe if you add the helicopter to the vehicle catalog of the other faction it could work. As long as it shows up in the helipad.

I will only add what it's already available in the game. any modded stuff will have to be a different mod and I may or may not get to it, but I'd like to.

USSR faction for my EE_Radio Actions is planned just would like to actually finish the mod before starting to port things over

my original implementation did that but figured it was really not that useful because you wouldn't be able to build it using the helipad thus you'd have to place it using workbench, etc.

Pick up already exists as an action in my EE_Radio Actions mod. Actually that was born first... this mod exists because of it. haha

yeah if you only have one LZ marker they will all probably choose the same LZ to land on. but currently there's no way to use more than one LZ marker since that functionality didn't occur to me. lol

How possible would it be to add way points to the AI transport?

For example if you needed to travel from A - C but B is full of enemies, could there be a system whereby the user would mark "WAY" or something and the AI pilot would roughly follow that route?

This might be in a future update. in the meantime, you can always use the HOVER action to stop the helo, reposition the LZ marker and then use the CONTINUE action. The helo will follow the new LZ

You have to away from the spot you called the previous one and the waiting time is on the author of the mod

The LZ is bound to your player ID. so yes if you place 20 choppers with one LZ (or multiple LZ, doesn't matter, since only one will be valid) they will all fly to the same spot. Currently the only way to make it work is by having more people place their own LZs and the player who put the LZ needs to be the one to trigger the READY TO GO action

I tested this mod on Kolguyev today and it works flawlessly over land. Unfortunately when I tried to take a helicopter ride from one of the islands to the main land, it repeatedly flew the helicopter into the ocean.

I got the ai to fly to the LZ however I can't make them hover or anything, still says "ready to go" even when scrolling down

it is perfect for the parachute mods though

also the landing light is stuck on, idk if thats by default or not

gonna use both mods to do a market garden style op for my group on monday

I've found that the transport heli deletes itself (and everyone in it) after a flight time of about 4 minutes and 22 seconds. The problem was replicated on Everon with the helicopter ai mod being the only mod loaded just to make sure this was the mod causing the problem. Happens on any map large enough to fit that long of a flight time though.

@tame sky Really great work, any chance you looking to make this mod that if you play as GM when it lands with AI it would get them out of the heli. At the moment heli would not wait till AI gets out. As well i seen around community some speaking as GM instead of LZ maybe would be nice to have like spawn points where heli could land.

I will get to it eventually. AI not dismounting the helo is a problem I already fixed in my EE_Radio Actions mod (you should try it!) but I'm still doing more testing since some issues have been reported when using modded helicopters.

I really don't know much about GM stuff, but I'll keep it in mind for a future update!

Just from reddit that i read most of guys that i follow plays ZEUS/GM pretty much and delivering enemy AI to fight zone they use your mod pretty much. At the moment the play around is to drag AI out of the heli when it lands. But you have to keep track of every bit pretty much. I understand this is your hobby work, so some feedback where possible. Much love for the mod.

Hey @tame sky sorry for the ping, I know people keep bothering you with this but do you have any plans to create your own mod with custom helicopters like the UH-60, AH-6M, etc.? I’m aware that Caboose is currently trying to fix the bug that makes the helicopter hover about 5 meters above the ground with modded helicopter, but I was just wondering if you were considering making your own helicopter mod at some point.

Yeah I might do a few modded variants for this. And by the way this mod doesn't have that hovering issue. That only happens in the EE_Radio Actions version AFAIK.

TheAussieMerc’s UH-60 Black Hawk

MH-6M Little Bird [WCS] (the one with the side benches)

Colton’s Chinook (but given the size of the aircraft, I’m afraid it might crash into a tree or something before landing.)

I don’t know if it’s a known issue, but I always have this problem where the helicopter stays a few meters above the ground instead of landing completely. Because of that, it’s impossible to load any AI into it…
