I'm assuming you don't already have a larger library of explosions and are looking for something for "general" use, covering a wide range of applications.
Not affiliated by any means, but The Recordist's Explosives HD Pro library is currently on sale for around 150USD. While many of the sounds are "designed", meaning already quite compressed and processed, and it's a bit above your budget, it'd still be a top recommendation for me because
- There really are a lot of sounds and "colors"
- The library DOES include some source files for "proper" ground-up processing
Good explosion libraries are somewhat hard to come by. Unfortunately, many providers only offer "designed" sounds, already compressed and processed to high heavens. ๐
Yeah, Ive already had a look at a couple of libraries, but like you said they are so compressed and processed already its hard to really do anything with them lol. Ill check out the Recordist Explosives HD Pro. 150USD should be fine. I have an account with roughly 5000USD that I have earned from my other hobby that I use to exclusively fund my other hobbies like modding so that should be fine!
Adding to it:
Another great library is Boom Library's "Urban Explosions" Construction Kit (not the designed version) due to its massive amount of clean, high-dynamic range recordings. Likely not quite suitable for you though, I think, because everything after the transients DOES sound... well, urban. Not great for any other environments, really ๐ It's also a bit pricier
