As for ammo hitzones - vanilla hitzones are working on both BRDM-2 & BTR-70. They are just not visible in diag due to nested structure

How does it pass damage to the parent?

AmmoStorage has child entries which are passing damage directly to main hit zone (vehicle)

Ah they have pass to root instead of pass to parent so they pass it directly to the vehicles hull instead of the parent AmmoStorage

Well I just tested it in game and they do work.
Just their multiplier is a bit too low to really notice it as it requires many hits to them to see any effect, while the LAV-25 starts burning from a single hit.

they are mainly set to be destroyed by incendiary ammo

there is also rather big difference in caliber between the two, although 7.62 on LAV might be set in this regard not correctly

yeah sure, but LAV-25 starts burning from a single HEDP while the BTR requires 4-5

for my tastes thats a bit too much of a difference

But on the other hand I wish it didn't set the entire vehicle on fire, but just the ammo boxes.
Oh well I guess I will start looking into how that could be done with a mod.

kind of make sense - 25mm shells are all concentrated in one place while 14.5 is spread through the vehicle. LAV also doesn't have stowed ammo simulated right now so I guess it will get some better balancing in future

Oh this is why I could have sworn that yesterday it didn't work.
The FIA variant of the BTR-70 does not have them at all
