Mod focused on bringing two new factions and adding variety to Arma Reforger. This mod features Insurgents and Middle Eastern Civilians to add enemies to Middle Eastern themed maps without having to replace vanilla factions or fall back on too little enemy variety. The models are mainly Arma 2 samples, both original and modified in texture and model.

Some pending changes and improvements:

  • Fix Suicide bomber (Use it cause a lot of lag)
  • More variety in clothing
  • Improve some head models (they look weird)
  • Add all equipment to the arsenal
  • Add bleeding to clothing when someone is wounded wearing it.
  • Change FIA voices to Arabic voices
  • Add new weapons

So is this compat with taliban mod and sundance? Do the voices work atm? I use callos vehicles and it requires taliban mod. Love the outfits, this just gives much more variety of taliban fighters

Hey man, there's an issue with the "Arab shirt" and "Arab pants". They cause the torso + arms, and legs respectively to disappear when worn.

It's a fair statement to make, there's major difference between Afghan and Arab/Mid-Eastern dress. It might affect immersion in a setting like Fallujah if the supposed Iraqi insurgents were dressed like Taliban.

Let's go by parts, first of all, they are correctly based in Takistan, fictitious region created by BI where they literally say they are based in Iraq and different areas of the Middle East, it's not something I say. Second, the name used is a generic name to encompass those areas where (as it says in the mod description) I will add in the future more models that may not fit with Takistan and may fit more with other cultures such as Taliban of the 2000s for example, that obviously also takes it out of that approach, but as you understand I can not call the mod "Insurgents and civilians of the Middle East, Iraq, Afghanistan and North Africa", it is a simple name to group a context that everyone can use as they wish in their servers.

Completely understandable, personally I think it’s an unreasonable thing to complain about.

I would like to ask again, since now you say you will add things from other cultures aswell: will you please just release a mod specifically for the clothing currently in the mod and nothing else? These are models that have been iconic since ArmA 2, they deserve their own mod, especially if you plan to add unrelated things.

For the moment I don't think I will do it, since I want to improve several of the models and textures, besides trying to redo some of the Samples models that don't look good in Reforger due to the way the uniforms were composed in Arma 2

Bose, great work on this. We are looking to incorporate it into the official Insurgency gamemode/mod created by Integrity Gaming, at least our GWOT extension. Your mod is lightweight and straight forward. Right now it could help us reduce like 2GB of downloads we have to have just for some clothing. A+

No one is having trouble with this mod in their list are they? I'm trying to insert like 80+ mods in but I really hope this mod isn't the source of why my server doesn't load up. I'm just doing a process of elimination but waiting for the server to go up takes forever!

I am going to answer some questions that I have been asked privately about the mod (I don't answer pm about my mods, I prefer to be asked here so everybody knows the answer).

Are you going to make your mod compatible with ToH recharacters?
It's not my plan, since I would be loading 1-2gb of content that maybe many people wouldn't be interested in, one of the goals of my mod was to make a light mod with good quality so everyone can use it without problems. According to my license you are free to make a compatibility that does, so go ahead.

Are you going to add more clothes to the mod?
That's my idea, but I have to locate some assets to buy or fix some more from Arma 2 plus I'm currently working on a Spanish Armed Forces armament mod and it's consuming me a lot of time.

Do you plan to change the voices of your faction?
That's right, 70% of the audio files were uploaded with one of the hotfixes unintentionally and are already in, but they are not operational as I have to spend some time to prepare the voices properly. The idea is that both my MEI and MEC faction will have arabic voices (Generic) and not czech (currently use the FIA ones).

Are you going to add more AI variants?
This will surely come with the new clothing variants, so yes, I will also try to add some other weapon as a whole (A G3 maybe?).

tried out ur mod its sick a much better insurgent faction than taliban much smaller and much more realistic items and betteer quality theres one bug that ive found unkown if it is a mod conflict but the ai dont react straight away to enemys and an enemy faction can see all the insurgents name tags

I really like how the S vest looks, instead of the stereotypical one, and going off what allza said i do feel this mod is better than taliban especially since the mod recently added a bunch of modernish AKs and attachments that don't do anything except inflate the mod size

Okay, I have a prototype that works pretty well and shouldn't bring problems, but it has some limitations (I can't get the vest to take effect when someone equips it, only when they spawn with it), throughout this week I will be working on bringing new variants of insurgents/civilians with some new assets I have, I will see about adding some more variety to the ones I had and fix small inventory bugs I saw in some MEI AIs. I'm still working on the audios (I'm waiting to see how Cowboy Pilot progresses first with his stuff) and to see if they solve the problem of the bleeding in the clothes, since I was developing it and I realized that in the current version the bleeding doesn't work

- Added new covered turban in various colors
- Added new bomb vest that detonates when the wearer dies (AI only for now)
- Fixed that the time bomb vest could be stored in a trunk and detonated without explosive effect (Now it can't be stored anywhere, only worn).
- Fixed that most skin colors were too dark, now there is a little more variety.

This should make fully compatible MEI with gamemodes like COE2 and other gamemodes that autogenerates enemies based on entity catalogs.

Might not be as easy of a 1 to 1 match though for how voices are setup in Reforger, which is what we are focused on and in the middle of. There is a lot of audio per language which would surprise folks. One of the other complexities as we are working through it right now is language structure is different, so its not as easy as just plug and play with things like "Contact" ,"12 oclock", "600 meters" as we might say in English and in a strictly military context. Arma has each of this separated and then combined based on in-game variables.

I'd also be concerned about the license that those mods got to that audio too, A3 had a lot of IP rights violations. BI is taking a much stronger position on IP rights (thankfully) in Reforger.

Ive founded on you'r test map (on the workbench) the other prefab works very well 🤗 (i think it's a just an issue with the M.E.I arsenal config i'm not an expert 😌 )
The timer & Deathswitch work well 🤗
But some other prefabs got this issue 😅

The spawn entity (caracter) with the gamemaster, named caracter with the bomb deadswitch vest work perfect too 😌

UPDATE 1.2.0: EXPLOSIVE UPDATE And 1.2.1 with a little rpl fix

  • Improved deadman switch (can now be used by players)
  • Explosive vests are divided into three types: Deadman Switch, IED Explosive (Collision), and Time/Detonator Vest.

There are three types of explosive vests now:

  • Deadman switch: Explodes when the player/AI wearing it dies. It can be disarmed by knocking the wearer unconscious and removing it from their inventory.
  • IED Explosive: These are improvised explosives attached to clothing that explode when damaged. They are very lethal.
  • Time/Detonator Vest: These are explosive charges that can be set by time or detonator from the ground or by another player.

On the other side, I recently discovered that 1 or 2 Reforger patches fixed (silently, since they didn't say anything) the bleeding on the clothes. I already patched another mod I have a week ago, but this one will take me much longer since I have to make a bleeding texture for each of the clothing variants. For now, it's disabled to avoid weird stuff, but I'll work on it soon!

If i place a US squad, a insurgeant squad, and a middle east civi. the 2 military factions wont shoot each other, however the US squad kills the civi. the Mod itself i have deleted and redownloaded. has anyone seen this before?

It's something I have pending, but it requires a lot of work and patience. There are more than 200 sounds, words and phrases that I have to adapt from English to Arabic and then prepare them with a decent AI text-to-speech reader. The mod you mentioned literally takes 20 different sounds in Arabic that have nothing to do with what the AI says when it speaks. I already have quite a few audio files prepared, but among other mods I have and my study/work time, I can't move forward with this yet. Eventually, it will be done.

Hello, I don't know if anyone has suggested it before. I use this mod a lot and it gives a really good setting in Milsim. Could you implement a totally black burka, even if it's not worn by a woman since the game doesn't have one from the factory? But having a civilian man wear it, giving that image of women, would look tremendous visually and I think more immersive in a Milsim style. Greetings!

Sorry for the delay, it had been updated for a few hours but I had to check everything thoroughly on my colleagues' server. I found that the explosive vest of mortar shells does not work on their server, but I will have to check it more on workbench thoroughly tomorrow at a more normal time. Enjoy!

I have to second @copper steppe . Honestly creating the second faction is the best way for most core addons, and then they (or others) can create overrides etc.

We created an Russian Federation Faction, but then use another mod to make it easy to replace the existing USSR with it, but you don't necessarily have to do it that way either.

Its not hard for non developers to do this stuff in the editor.

I'm aware, and I know how to override factions. I guess I just have some kind of OCD when it comes to the faction list being bloated beyond what I specifically need it for. Was quite a selfish suggestion but I am sure there are others who feel the same.

MEIC Mod - Community Update

@copper steppe and I have teamed up to give the mod a much-needed facelift. Our goal is to bring the MEI faction up to par with the vanilla FIA in terms of content, allowing the MEI to utilize vanilla FIA assets while new original content is being developed.

We are also excited to announce that the MEI is now officially under the umbrella of the FFAA Mod Team (Spanish Armed Forces Mod) (https://discord.com/channels/105462288051380224/1481220669978185889). One of the main reasons for this is to provide the FFAA faction with a dedicated enemy faction that receives the same level of care and detail as the main mod, ensuring it is fully fleshed out with content and variety.

As mentioned, our primary objective is to balance our factions with vanilla ones like the FIA, making them fully compatible with both vanilla and custom game modes.

What’s coming in the next update:

  • Complete restructuring of characters, groups, and faction configs.
  • New Voiceovers: We are adding dedicated voice assets corresponding to the faction for better immersion.
  • In-game reconfiguration of all existing content.

Regarding visuals: while we may look into updating textures in the future, we cannot confirm any specific plans at this time.

Was there an update to MEI? The community I play with has it downloaded however they are spawning in White and will not attack any other faction. Could this just be we have a mod that conflicts with it?
