Most players don't know or care that much, but you can turn gamma up at night to see better.
This is film grain from dayz, works in reforger too.
Youy can only see the film grain if you turn your gamma up.

reforger has the film grain effect, I turned it on and tuned it a bit

Basically if all players see different amounts at night, you can never balance the AI for night time or

some players will have advantage over others at night,
just by owning a different monitor or turning gamma up

Don’t understand why goobers complain about night time. I like it being pitch black and unable to NOT use a flashlight or flares.
