This is my first attempt at terrain in ARMA Reforger, and really ARMA ever. I've always wanted to do something like this with ARMA since ARMA 2.

It is based on the terrain of the Bois Blanc Island, which is near the USA and Canada border. I chose this area because i have friends in the USA and Canada side so I thought it'd be cool, nothing to do with the whole political aspect recently.

It is roughly 16km X 16km, which is very large for a beginner, however I'd rather my time spent be on a "bigger picture" than a smaller picture, then restarting. The area cut off in the northwest corner will be reshapped. I had to do a 20kmX20km to get the whole island which was too big. I may add surrounding island or two later on, we'll see.

Right now my mindset is to make the map the typical "post apocalyptic/post war" setting. I will release the map, but then also do a scenario. The scenario will be a "easier" surivial gamemode. Fun, but some challenges. I have my eye on the Centraleconomy and Metabolism mods, along with the ARMStalker mods. I will likely be using building mods such as Wolfsbuildings, EEC content. The content from those go their original creators, and they have done great work!

I work shift work so progress will be slow, but if there is an interest I'll do more regular posted updates. Right now I have only have heightmap and roads imported from QGIS.

Im always open to suggestions and constructive criticism, so please comment and interact if you'd like.

Also, please don't forget to backup your project. I have spoken to a few map mod Devs and they have lost all their progress due to whatever issues they have come across.

Don’t forget, if u place something underground the destruction will be activated and the game thinks this must be broken. Also the lightning need to be adjusted

I made two different sides of the dam walls, not sure if i should make them the same, and if so which one? The conrete rention walls or the other one? The rention walls (the apx 4 layer wall side, 2nd pictrure) tends to run FPS a little lower due to more objects and polys. So thats why I did the other side different to see how it looks and runs. Any input?

First main military area, not entirely happy with how* it turned out, might redo a little bit of it at some point. Need to learn alot more of texture painting but this is where im at so far. Dont judge too much haha

Thanks, I used the one you helped me with plus found a trick I hope i didn't screw up on. I duplicated the Forestclearing_deciduous_01, then modified the color to make most of the black area. Im using the burned ground for the "motor/explosive" impacts

small shopping center "overlook" area. Worked on some prefab sets which are the picnic tables with assorted items on them and the statue base. Also imported some custom textures from Polyhaven. The prefabs and textures are in their own seperate mod im doing.

I decided to upload to workshop the current state. I had a friend that wanted to check it out. It is very much early stages and the areas I have so far are only about 50-70% complete. A lot of finer details and touch ups need done in current areas. But the general idea/feel for what I have done is there.

Beginning a prefab bunker to place in a mountain I make in terrain. Going to have to find a good way to blend different wall styles so its not as "cookie cutter" and decorations will definitely help. Idea is a government/military bunker.

Thank you my friend!! The most recent changes are uploaded to workshop and have a barebones game master mode if you want to check it out. I’m focusing on the bunker and then mountain so progress around map will slow down as I try and tackle that project lol.

Not bad for a "custom" made hole in a wall to lead to another room. Also, i know alot assets are european based, and this is a military bunker, but i think these urinals are too close.....what you think? haha I laughed too hard when it looked like they were holding hands.

Two of the ridges mostly done. The cross overs i needed for the bunker are covered half decently. The bunker is not as large as it seems, it'll be more deeper thatn it is wide. The majority of what you see is covering up holes in the terrain. Alot more work of blending and figure out overall style I want on it, but so far happy with how its turning out.

Changed up the road enterance and around mountain alot, added a few access roads and fiddling with some bridge work. Mostly happy with how its turned out so far, just got alot of filling in to do on the terrain.

Thank you! Having issue with getting railways to work and look good. I tried to keep it realistic with how a train would travel if hauling cargo, but just got very difficult. I had to move on from it lol.

First time doing the paper 2d map. Not sure why, but I feel very accomplished seeing this map. It helped put in perspective what i have accomplished. Its only the north-eastern end of map that ive been working on. So it also put into reality how much i have left! lol

I managed to figure out the awesome "Satmap generator tool" and its a nice change to see that instead of the original sat map when moving around the map. Really helped feel like progress. Couple videos showing it off. The combat vidoe made me realize i got alot of work to do with textures and "cover/concealment" on the map.

I will be welcoming a friend of mine to helping me make Allyhorn Island. He’s very talented with building bases in crafting games, and i can not wait to see his talents grow where he can now make whole maps. Once he’s learns how to use the Workbench we should see some more timely progress. He is a lot more talented with details than myself. Very excited for this next step and to have his talents grow

I'm oppen for input on this part of my map. I like the area where the train tunnel exits into the big lake, but I dont like how it turned out where the rail curves and goes up to meet the other side of lake near the other track. It just feels wrong. THe reason it sits low, is because on the other side it goes to the harbor industrial. According to measure tool its about 590m long. The tunnel goes down at about a 1 degree angle to meet the harbor rail yard level. I could raise up the rail exit leading to the lake, however that means a likely steeper exit on the other side at the harbor. Im a little torn on what to do.

So i ripped it open, tore it apart, and been rebuilding. So far, liking this better. Old tunnel will be a "abandoned mine shaft" type of look that is closed. So still get to keep that spot i really liked lol. The new tunnel will be have undeground room access to the radio antenna area above it. There will also be a couple exits along the tunnel to not have such a major fatal funnel when fighting.

Current waterfall particles. Particle Editor 1 is first two images, particle editor 2 is 3rd and 4th images. First two are for top of waterfall ( i believe) last two are for bottom i believe

Redoing a railyard I had. Been reworking my railroad layout for a little while now, and this is the last area i've been workign on, and honestly was the toughest to redo.

Been a slow couple of weeks, but heres a park area I worked on recently. I did copy+paste parts from other areas, however they will be changed to be more unique. They're just "placeholders". Of course, the area is not complete and just a general idea of what I want.

Going to start VERY BASIC blender stuff some point soon, this is a place holder for a basketball court, and maybe a tennis court. The soccer field should be along the proper dimensions for a soccer field, same with the basketball court. I'll have to resize the 2nd court for tennis if i decided to do that.
