Collision trigger component works on grenades?
No, I had to work on it from the other direction. Start with a projectile (underslung grenade), then add all the stuff that makes it a grenade (WeaponComponent > BaseItemAnimationComponent, GrenadeMoveComponent)

It's janky as the brick disappears once it hits a target, but I'm working on ironing that out. Windows can break with damage type set to collision instead of kinetic so I did that too.
I guess you could just add a particle that uses a prefab, but yeah
Yeah, could also use a SubmunitionEffect like the flares do.
Insane how much effort this needs
It's super flexible if you want to make a very standard weapon, but can be difficult if you want to make something niche.
I suppose generic entities not being able to do kinetic damage easily is the price we pay for not getting killed by the physics engine constantly like Arma 3.
Could the brick be configured into say... A throwing knife?
I imagine so, but a bit of work will have to be done first.
The interesting thing to me is that the components sometimes do not behave the way they are supposed to. A collision trigger component should work on collision, but does not work when using a grenade, even though there is collision.
I imagine BI overrode certain things internally to make frag grenades behave a certain way and didn't necessarily think someone would want to make this. Can't be sure though as I can't see anything but function signatures for most built-in classes in the script editor.

you're probably good if yougrab a custom knife FBX model, duplicate it in blender and rename one to UTM_[insert_name_here], export and whatever else is needed

Added to US, USSR, and CIV arsenals.
Bricks now fragment on hit, with particle effects.
I tried to make them reusable, but the engine wasn't having it so I've made them canonically brittle instead.
