The hell
Is this also happening on vanilla wav files for you?

hollow timber
#

I have only had it with customly imported ones. Strange because those files used to play normally before meowsweats

night verge
#

And the files themselves sound fine when not played back through Enfusion?

hollow timber
#

Apparently seem to be fixed by re-encoding it into mono pcm 16 and reimporting it blobcloseenjoy

Well, that's no great solution ๐Ÿ˜…
You're the first one to report this and I can't reproduce it myself, so it could be something hardware-specific.
Could you please create a ticket in the feedback tracker? ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ

Aside from please creating feedback tracker tickets;
Do you guys use an external audio interface, or your onboard one?
If the latter, could you name your CPU and mainboards, please?

Fixed by exporting out of Audacity using Mono rather than Stereo. Very weird that it breaks only after the stable update but thanks @hollow timber for the fix

Could you guys please send the non-working wav files over?

#

//
@rich wren So everything was fine before, the update arrived, and now it's borked?

rich wren
#

Yeah it was working just fine untill this update

#

Will try mono PCM wave above and see if that fixes it

night verge
#

And the vanilla sounds all work fine for you guys? ๐Ÿค”

rich wren
#

I think so havent gotten too far in with checking more

#

Have re rendered the wavs at 16bit PCM mono and they work

While this isnt great especially for larger sound mods it works. Luckily only had a wopping 5 wav files to convert

#

Again, would be great if someone could provide a .wav file that these issues occur with.

i send you one that is bugged for me in DMs

Copying from the main channel:

So, good news and bad news:

Bad news is that it seems 24bit support is broken. Will likely be fixed again, though.
Good news is that 24bit should rather be avoided anyway, and the issue has nothing to do with the file being mono or stereo. (For reference, vanilla Reforger uses 48KHz, 16bit)

So, in order to solve the issue, convert any 24bit files to 16bit.

And in case someone screams "but the quality!..." I can assure you that

  • these sort of differences are practically inaudible, especially during gameplay and
  • most sources used for creating soundmods were not recorded in 24bit, so saving/converting them in 24bit does not improve quality, only increases the filesize.

If you guys want to quickly convert all files to 16bit, I highly recommend using Reaper. It's only a few MB, got a free trial with full functionality and has a great batch converter.

  1. Download Reaper (https://www.reaper.fm/) and open it
  2. Click on Actions -> Show action list, then search for "Batch Converter"
  3. Double-click on "File: Batch file converter"
  4. Via "Add..." you can select the folder of your mod/sound files (and even include sub-directories)
  5. โ— Check "Overwrite original files", make sure "Sample Rate" and "Channels" have (Source) selected
  6. โ— Set "WAV bit depth" to 16 bit PCM
  7. Click on "Convert all" - Done!

Just want to add to this and say that my files were all 16 bit, all I changed was from Stereo to Mono prior to exporting over. That has done the trick

All of my files sound normal in Enfusion (they were 16bit originally) but now in an actual multiplayer server I'm getting the static breaks
Edit: looks like i exported as 24bit whoops.
