@delicate herald
They have to go on patrol because Scouts report Mines nearby and they have to clear Them
So tanks and cars can pass through to go into battle
They arrived not long ago and just set up camp
I managed to get it so I can type in here now
@neon horizon
Okay my next question is why? Why should they care? why them and not another force?
They should care because tanks and transport need to pass by into battle
Them because there are 3 squads one is out scouting and one needs to stay at base and they had to go out
Because there was nothing Else to do
Try to think a bit more deeply about it. My missions are different, but world building helps a ton
I make missions for 60+ so some of the things I do might not apply to you, but world building still will
Make up a believable reason for why they should care
Why are they fighting the enemy they face
What would happen if this mission failed
What “diabolical” acts has this enemy committed
They couldnt get vehicles through to fight the enemy
And they need those for an attack on a city that is heavily defended
@delicate herald
And thats it for mission 1
Want to know mission 2
Sure
The citizens of the small city gets scared and us soldiers contact their base and ask for help they decline in fear that they would be ambushed by a stronger force but they will help with a helicopter you just need to hold on for some hours but suddenly you get attacked but by a small local force but it will still be Hard since you have lost so many troops you manage to survive with No casualties thanks to the cities defenses and the helicopter arrives and you make it back the military camp is more supplied with troops and you gather alot of troops to defeat the enemies still waiting for you another group to Come you split into two and take on the enemy it is a deceisive victory and you make it back home with minimal casualties
Sorry I fell asleep it was a long day.
I tend not to control the battles like you are, instead control the larger narrative, things that the players see, but don’t directly impact them are typically the best for set pieces, having a helicopter save them can work, but give them their moment aswell. The fact you are saying how the battle will conclude before they experience it, makes me worry this will be a railroading OP, what decisions can the players make to change/alter this scenario.
@neon horizon
I mean i dont really know how to make the player able to alternate the battle
Just playing a mission where everything is predetermined makes it feel empty
The player is in a squad
Why should I play, if I can’t alter anything
How can i make the player alter it
Is this a multiplayer mission? A single player mission?
Single player
Ohh then this matters less, but still give them a way to “win” and a way to “lose”, but I’m one who makes missions for large multiplayer, so some of my advise isn’t really suitable
As I do zeused missions where you can alter things when the players alter things
Lose when the player dies
Yeah as I said I didn’t realise this was a single player mission
Oh okay
All of my missions are for 50+ players, so a player dying doesn’t end the mission
Should i make the whole squad playable?
So that when you die its not over
It’s up to you; I’m less help in the single player mission regard
But just try to tell a story and give the players ways to impact it if possible, this can be as simple as give them a choice to be “good” or “bad” and have different situations occur depending on their choices
But this scales poorly into single player unfortunately
So maybe limit this
Ok
