#ADF - Australia Reforged
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
ADF Australia Reforged aims to introduce an Australian presence into the 1989 Everonian front. Here's a first look at whats to come
(We are aware of, and will be introducing a time-period correct F88 rifle in future, thanks to @slender magnet , co-developer of this project)
Hell yea
according to wikipedia australia introduced DPCU in 1989, so will there be units who still have the plain olive uniforms still? also another question: what year did australia replace the M1 helmet?
PASGT was introduced in the 90s but M1s were still used after PASGT helmet was introduced
I have no plans on doing non DPCU uniforms at this stage, but it may change with the scope of the mod as it progresses
ok kewl
I do plan on making additional variations of the m1 to give some customisation possibilities
also im gonna ask a question which i bet is gonna get asked a lot, why did adf use bushhats more often then helmets back in the day?
like the battle of long tan movie depicted everyone wearing the bush hat in actual combat
and my dad who was in the army reserve in the 80s doesnt remember being issued a helmet at all
No idea to be honest
Could be due to not having strict requirements for helmets, or personal preference. Maybe a cultural thing. Don't know the reason for it
It's still the same in modern times when it comes to military exercises
hmmm interesting
im pretty sure though in modern times they wear helmets way more often, especially in combat zones
judging by images of afghanistan and talisman sabre
Yeah, helmets are always for combat in current times. But you'll usually always see hats get used in a lot of photos from exercises and media from the army
@mellow solar
the battle of long tan was a usual patrol that ended in a surprise attack so i think it was not expected hence no helmets however it is depicted in the film that we did not wear helmets all that often in general
oh ok
so answer is still unknown lmao
I have seen photos of M1 helmets in use for some Australians in Vietnam, but it wasn't too common from what I can see
Even in ww2, Australians aren't depicted wearing helmets as often as other armies
So I have since found out that the helmets were used in a defensive state while the bush hats were used for patrols and outwards attack
M1 helmets were deemed heavy and ineffective when used on patrol
Amazing find. That can help us with setting class loadouts if we move the direction of a fleshed out faction
Kind of like how USSR have khaki and then klmk squads and units, we could potentially do, defensive and offensive units, in addition to potential SASR for special forces
Looks good
Looks great so far! Really love the DPCU. What kind of backpack was used by the ADF during that time?
from what I can see from reference, both the ALICE backpack in DPCU and the IIFS in DPCU is suitable
although the IIFS may have came in the 90s. I need to do more digging, but otherwise the ALICE will be making an appearance. Thankfully the US gear is fairing well at coving most basis
I understand. Using the given stuff is definitely easier than making the models yourself. Keep up the good work : )
thank you very much
Australia had experience fighting in South East Aisa in WW2 to Indonesia and wearing steel helmets isn't nice in humidity. The bush hat or giggle hat was used for comfort. The only Australians who had to wear M1s in Vietnam were Mortars, sappers and drivers from memory.
I assume this isn’t out on workshop yet
Not yet. Should have a public version available in the near future though. Goal is to have F88 and hopefully a Hi-Power in from ScaryTerry. And I want to have at least a full kit and accessories ready, in a state I'm happy with, and bug/free
L1A1 SLR is from the British Forces mod pack for illustration purposes only
Australian 1989 Faction Mod in Development for Arma Reforger
idk about anyone else but i prefered it when the uniforms were less orange
#enf_showroom message this looks better imo. maybe there could be a middle ground?
I had the cold war filter on that image in armavision @orchid axle
oh ok. i still think its too orange tho
I'll look into it
awesome, thanks
Hell yes
you'll be happy to know, this has now been corrected. Stay tuned
I personally liked the warmer tone, but I think that just came down to lighting in warmer light conditions
hopefully its not too green now
or orange
its not orange I can say that for a fact
great
much better imo
awesome
when you stare at it for so long you doubt yourself. it looks good, then it looks bad, then it looks good, and so on so forth
yeah i get what u mean
thanks for the heads up though. Its not a lof of work applying the same adjustment to all files, but its better to fix it earlier than later
yeah i 100% agree
also no worries
Both my parents served in the ADF and i was in cadets for a little while so im very happy to see this
@orchid axle looks a lot better, yes
glad to hear people are escited for this. I cant wait to release it and see communities use it, although Im not wanting to rush it. It wont be a long wait, but I dont want the release to be half-assed
love photo mode
yeah this mod is gonna be great.
Love it but i do not get why the ADF would go to everon
eh ill think of a reason that makes sense (if you dont have one already)
Ykw ill ask chat gpt
Supporting the US in fighting the USSR. Dont think about it too hard lol. My thoughts are that the conflict with the USSR so far is only contained to Europe. Aus being a smaller army, assists the US with strategic, out-of-the-way conflicts like island of Everon etc. Would be less needed on mainland Europe as countries like West Germany, UK, US, etc are already full force on mainland, and theres no point drawing West German forces out for an island, and the US can focus more forces to mainland Europe
we'd be the "put them where we need more manpower" force
I think that makes sense from a non-military strategist perspective @neat breach
But the faction would be perfect if anyone releases an asia or pacific themed map for vanilla Conflict
Makes sense
The more I think about it too, keeping us off mainland or large conflict zones would minimise friendly fire or the complications the come with cross-army coordination and communication between chains of command
The more forces you have in a region, the more complicated it gets
Do you think we'll end up seeing F1 SMG's or probs not?
and what about vehicles?
Also we used the M1 helmet until the 1990s , it was replaced with the PASGT then
depends on a few things... priority of other assets, if we can find a legal 3d model of one, and if we got the time to add it. In other words, we'll see in future. It would be nice
Yup, thats why I've only included the M1 helmet for the mod at this stage. In terms of vehicles. Currently no plans, if we do decide on vehicles, it'll be a big undertaking for sure, but would likely start with a landrover. If suitable vehicles exist on the workshop, we may look into doing texture replacements with them being dependencies for the faction mod
There are like gonna be 3 land rovers on the workshop already
yeah, which is why we may opt to retexture. I'd like to avoid dependencies though as I'd like our mod to be a full standalone. Makes it feel more legitimate if it doesnt rely on others' content
turkish forces has one
and WZ has armed ones
turkish forces one is not good
British Forces mod had one in the works but Tepache seems awol right now, unless he's just working in silence
Maybe if a vehicle modder is passionate to help us out, they can handle that side of things
alice harnesses gear configurations are being customisted to represent what is seen in reference images and video
I remember my grandad talking about kangaroo 89
He was more or less on his way out of the forces at that point since he was at 28 years service but says he saw some cool shit done
indonesia faction would go well with this
Australian troops stationed on the island of Everon fielding the newly adopted F89 Minimi LSW
armies of the world when belgium makes a new machine gun - 😍
pretty much lmao
Before really looking into it, I didnt realise the SAW was a minimi adaptation too. Which is good for the faction mod as we can just reuse the base game SAW, depsite there maybe been some slight differences
I will be including tan/OD harnesses as well as they would have been common in 89 still
sneak peak x

ADF reforged clearly being shown at lowest settings @severe trellis
That's wild
is that lego or mind craft?

I know those fucking awful Roblox player models anywhere
That shit haunts me in my dreams
Where did you get our leaked custom reforger models from?
I'm not sure if this is a joke or serious
😛
How would it be serious bro. I don't think we're putting roblox models into arma ...
nah bro, leaked them from the adf personally
My mum works in the ADF can confirm
Hell yes
https://discord.gg/KUjP8ZDjAj Reminder, we have a discord for anyone who wants to keep up to date. We also may look into suggestion channels in future, as well as the possibility of hosted in-game events
what a shame... I set my camera focus wrong. Oh well
FOR THE QUEEN THE LAW THE PEOPLE
rest in peace lizbeth, fucking champ you were you old bitch
get hyped
I’m very hyped
Homie got to shoot 7rar's entire ammo budget for the year in that clip lol
🤣🤣🤣
will this mod be borrowing any guns from other mods, such as the l1a1 (for marksmen/reserve), fn mag and m16a1 (for grenadiers)? i wouldnt mind if this mod had a dependency on the british mod, but if that mod breaks in an update then that would ruin this mod too
We're making our own. We don't want dependencies. If any content is reliant on dependencies, it may be an optional add on download
oh ok
i wish some of this stuff was vanilla so it could be universally used by modders
No dependencies is great. Really looking forward to when this can be used
We will have "own-brand" dependencies, such as the ADF Reforged Weapons pack" etc as there are different people working on different aspects of the mod, but nothing 3rd party hopefully
Looking good gents 💪
Really nice retexture! Can I write to you a DM to get your advice?
What's the advice regarding?
About the boonie hat texture, I can ask you here too, I didn't want to clog up the thread. How did you manage the texture of the boonie hat so well? I had some difficulties!
Textured over the olive drab one. I'd suggest doing some photoshop or editing tutorials if you're unsure how to blend a texture over an existing one
You just create the pattern layer and blend it using blending options, then tweak colour values as necessary
And also retain details of individual things by haveing them as a layer on top of the pattern layer (such as buttons etc)
Is there a template somewhere? I tried searching github but couldn't find anything. I honestly don't understand why they don't make all the elements available since the game is based on modding by users!
Do you need an aug a1
I tried to implement it and strugglet, if you can help me fix it you could use it
The template is taking a screenshot of the existing Olive drab one like he suggested. You use that with its shading and adjustments to influence your texture, which you will then put underneath it.
Yes, IK, that's what I also do for retextures, what seems absurd to me is that you have to use a screenshot to be able to do this type of modding, with the resulting loss of quality and details. I don't understand the point of not creating an archive in which to insert all the textures since we are free to reinterpret them anyway.
Well technically you're not free to have those textures is, which is why you have to "steal" them.
But yeah they should definitely make a more fluid process for at least stock components
we already have an AUG a1 as you can see above
needs jousting sticks
Agreed
when the lav comes out you plannin on making up an ASLAV skin for it?
We didn't have ASLAV in 89 unfortunately
This mod is becoming great
❤️
To follow up on this, the goal if we can develop the skills for vehicles or find a development member proficienct in them is to add an M113 with the T50 turret we used at the time, and I would also like to add the LARC-V for some asymmetrical balance with an amphibious transport vehicle. Landrovers for small transport, and UNIMOG trucks for logistic and large transports. If we're unable to implement our own vehicle, it may come in the form of retextured existing vehicles from the workshop. But that poses its own challenges of being reliant on 3rd party modders to fix their content when they break on major updates, plus my goal is to avoid dependencies
Very noice lads👌👌
please tell me where the mod went, I can't find it for download?((
Still in development. It hasn't been publicly released yet @dawn sentinel
Just a reminder for anyone keeping tabs, we have a discord server for progress updates and other general stuff
