in regards to textures, they are never auto-imported. Have a look over the suffixes required on each individual textures and how the maps are split across texture channels #enfusion_texture

So for example you can have different texture maps, things like NMO maps, these help the textures be brought into the game and give the items that “life” that they need

yes you need to use something like quixel mixer to merge the different colour channels to make the texture. Its the same for making custom ground textures

You need _BCR and _NMO. BCR is color in RGB, roughneess in Alpha. _NMO is normal in red/green, metalness in blue and AO in Alpha... with any software

Have you created items for the textures to go onto? As you will need to create a base prefab with the items and edit them from there attaching the .EMAT’s and things in the additional tools then

They need to have individual prefabs if you are making them clothing items for now, that way you can change the meshes, textures and such through the menu that at the top right then

Reforgers tools take a fair bit to get used to but after a little of fiddling about it becomes pretty easy to use, I’d recommend loading darkgrus PLA pack into the workbench and you can check how they made the female items they have

@mortal tulip for the materials to be in enfusion they have to exist previously in blender (or any other software you are using) associated to each mesh. If there isn't one then enfusion will not let you replace it.

After getting the model done you use enfusion blender tools to export the fbx and it will have all the necessary materials structure for each mesh.

That's at least what I've found while learning how to actually do the updated Darkgru's GI Jane.

You can dm me if you want and I can share what I've discovered through infinite trial and error (I'm still new to blender and enfusion).

Well... we are working on more realistic female models as it is. The new "GI Jane" was just published (I know it's not the best.. it was my first mod ever lol) and I have a bunch of uniforms in the pipeline to be female-ized in a non exaggerated way

Well the US and Soviets have unique player models, so the FIA(I guess, lore wise maybe not) and Civilian factions having women as unique player models makes sense

I guess BI doesn't do female player models because it would be expensive. Hire 2x as many actors, 2x as many animators, implement a hair shader, pain sounds, radio lines, gear models etc. It's a huge task when the target audience is squarely men.

This is just the head so it should work okay. I made it with the darkgru clothing in mind though. And we are cooking something else... I have a complete body mesh set up with the body divisions and all, I just want to see how to actually use it as a base body and not a bodysuit (which is the easy way but not ideal since you can't hide body parts)

Honestly this could've been done so easily with a character customization option. Like.... couple of faces, couple of voices, lean and brawny. I know this game is kind of a test bed and understand there are priorities, but among all the stuff they've made, with the experience they had, it could've been an easy fix.

One of my ideas would be to add it to the randomized character cycle. You'd have to use bacon to refresh the character though.

The other one which was @tulip lance s idea is to make a body suit with pre arranged clothes. The issue there would be how to sort out the meshes to hide.

Honestly, the easy way is to just use the head and have some female clothes attached to the body beforehand. It will be more useful for a civilian faction tbh

But you should at least be able to tell them apart after a second look. If it's more average then the reality is that sports bras and plate carriers make boobs almost flat but the rest looks pretty much the same.

For the head, you could add it as several slot options for the zeliks character slots. So if someone wanted to wear it in the "head" category but also wants to put something else in that slot they could simply select it in another slot, like extras or something. If that makes sense

it's more than just tbh... there's so much you can do with sculpting and the results are passable but not ideal. As someone who has been working on sculpting a lot of uniforms to a female ish body, it's a real pain..

that and the fitting of plethora of custom items. It honestly sucks... I still want it so I do it, but now that I've been working with several uniforms, making prefabs for each version is a royal pain in the ass. Not considering each variation has an inflated and deflated version... like... it's exponential.

I still hope arma4 has the built in option to customize the characters but I can definitely understand not diverting resources to generating much content to female models when there are a lot more pressing issues. I do wish we had better hair shaders though... (or I knew how to actually use what we have... )

There will be a number of mods that will want to see female characters to those scenarios. The hair as it is may have some clipping issues with various helmets and chest pieces.

Will the character have different hair styles to cycle through to prevent this?

The holstered gun on the right leg is also not weighted properly for leg movement

Hi Elisa, I'm absolutly impressed by your work, i'm a more "two rocks to make fire" dude than a 3d model creator so it's like making magic tricks in front of an ape, and of course i'm in the POV of the ape . And I would like to ask about your character. Is she created around "modded gear" like modern conflicts or will she "fit" in the vanilla loadouts ? Because to be honest, i don't play modern theaters, mainly because well, i'm in the french army, i wear "modern gear" all the day and I wanna see the good old 80's stuff, because i'm just a chill guy who want to run in the hills and fields without 40kg of gear and plates.

I litterally bought Reforger for the engine, the textures and the era. And as i said, i'm an overthrow player (main reason why I play Reforger, I was a "huge" antistasi player on Arma 3) and I love the idea of a badass woman who kick ass of occupy forces on Everon islands.
So, if you did the work with the vanilla gear, would you mind to publish a "vanilla" "beta" version and later the modern and vanilla like "complete version" ?

soo. I will quickly explain it a bit more in depth:

There are colliders. And there are hitboxes. Colliders are really important for clothes, weapons, vehicles, models (men / women models) etc. Colliders say: When you touch this part, you're not going to mesh, but you're going to collide and stay apart from each other. 2 models staying apart because of colliders.

What are hitboxes? Hitboxes is an area of a vehicle / model you put colliders in ESPECIALLY for bullets. Those colliders are usually called hitboxes. Those colliders will react with bullets, and the system then knows a hit has been registered. (By the way, I've only rigged a weapon in enfusion. It might be there's only one collider level for characters. If there is, then BI did some real whacky stuff)

In your example. idk tbh. Because Im not Yokai who is doing it. She said its going to be similar to the man hitboxes, so its prolly going to end up really similar.

yee I just read her saying she wants to do it balanced etc. So I wouldnt be scared about smaller hitboxes and such. Its really easy also to fix stuff like this on your own with a submod if you didnt like how yokai did it. Just rig the colliders differently (if its possible. Didnt do a character yet in enfusion. Normally in Unity and other engines, theres multiple colliders you put on a character. If there's only ONE collider, then BI did some weird shenanigans)

I just know from Skyrim Modding I did with armours and characters, sometimes I wanted to do smaller hitboxes for certain armours. Since if it became too wide, archers and spellcasters hit the player too consistently which resulted in lots of staggering and annoying gameplay. That was the only time tho I had to worry about hitboxes in a game*

WELL FOLKS i come with an update . this is is bis official response i guess i respect it i messed up i accept my punishment.

but hopefully bi will let me come back in a year however my texture artist will continue my work on my female model and our other projects we were working on together but he will have to redo my enfusion work and somethings from scratch
