There's visual cues that the server is working. If the ping is 999+ you can join but your friends can't. This happens when you put the wrong IP and use the ipv4 when portforwarding. I used my WAN IP and it worked. Everyone's service provider may be different but the network info should be there when you put your router address in the Internet browser
