Working on a map really close to the actual Wake Island scale, 1:1. While an amazing layout, most games condense the island for a quicker gameplay loop. A large, 1:1 Wake should offer much more realistic pace, far more tactical approaches, but also offer the same sense of cut-throat objective taking. Only mod used in this will be JM Trees, which are used for the Vietnam maps.

That's the intention. Specifically why I made it closer to the real Wake size. Gives a lot of room to breath but also still has iconic choke points and island capping.

are you gonna to import custom models into your terrain?
If I have time. V1 will be all stock, albiet vetted so the models don't look "so" off, with things like clay tile roofed buildings not being in it, all non-english posters and signs removed, etc
Custom object importing isn't my forte so it's not a priority until the first version is done
Airport almost done, with custom terminal interior placements
Although custom posters is super easy since they are just splines with no geometry so I will probably add a ton relevant to Wake around the map interiors to help increase the world-building in V1

Almost done. Just adding Conflict objective and figuring out the workshop upload process. Having issues with both of those. No idea how long.

Yeah. I got close. Made some objectives and play tested the map against the FIA and it was a ton of fun. But running into some crashes, misaligned in-game map, missing SCR stuff etc. also using the JMTree mod and the entire project is made in a read-only folder... Worst case is I just need to replace palm trees since that's the only thing in the read only

Anyone know a good place for map making questions on Discord? Map is done, but I am having trouble with the in-game map and conflict setup, which kind of works
When that's done I will release to workshop with a Conflict mode so people can just roll it on servers day 1
I would think that the Terrain channel would be a good place to start, I don't see any other discord channel being better at asking these question than the Arma one. Will definitely check this map when it's fully done!

Wake Island version 1.0 is in the workshop! Grab it now. Along with the map, the release includes a Game Master mode so you can jump into it. Will update it accordingly.
Hey, so I tested your map out, and I think it is one of the better map mods. A lot of nice attention to detail and care was put into this map. However, as much as I like the mod, there is one issue I noticed when playing in the Game Master scenario, where the AI don't know how to move around the map (they run into walls and buildings). The issue is that your map might not have a navmesh set up, so here are some links to try and help you in adding a navmesh (I don't actually know how to set up the navmesh, as I don't make map mods, but I know this is what the issue would be)

I appreciate the feedback. I never linked the Generated Navmesh after saving it, so thanks for pointing it out. Updated the Workshop file. AI should now work as expected.

Also, are some of the bunkers supposed to be "tilted" due to age/time or did they mess up when they "snapped" to the terrain?
Besides those couple things. Map is amazing. Can't wait to do an amphibious assault on this map
They are supposed to be a bit goofy from erosion. I should/will add some concrete rubble around them to emphisis this

The map issue is one I have not figured out, the terrain is not at 0,0,0 so it's off, but I can't seem to find a way to fix it other than shift everything to 0,0,0 which is really not worth the time
too much erosion for something that has such large footing
Was going for this look, will fix ones that are further inland. Ones on the beach should be pretty titled imo

Should be fixed shortly, sorry. Good news is the map is now working for the next update. Should be 20 minutes or so to fix the rest. Will also include Conflict
Just in a mad rush to get it all working and it broke some stuff. Will sort it out and let the map simmer for a few weeks on Workshop.

Back up and updated. Now it's not showing GM or conflict in the scenarios list 😢
It is now listed in the Test, GameMaster is back with working map fix finally implimented
However a final update can be expected to drop shortly with Conflict. Then I will keep my hands off of updating for a while

Chat fix uploading now. Let me know if there are other things missing you need to run on a dedicated server, as this is the intent so it's good ot have a test. I'll try to update it asap as you find things so you can run it smoothly.
US PvE Conflict Mode Added. Ambient USSR Patrols around the island and respawnable USSR units at all untaken enemy capture points. There is also FIA who will occasionally cause trouble to increase immersion (distant battles), but don't spawn again once killed at any point unlike the USSR.

No worries, I agree. It's a lot of fun, even if it's just you solo or with a friend some night it's a fun time
Yeah. Solo, small groups. Or an operation where main objs and majority of ai are in place already
It always kind of bothered me when I download a cool looking map, but if there is no servers with it, I can't do much outside of Game Master to check it out or use it. So yeah, a PvE version serves as a nice showcase for people to get into it
@sharp oasis just tried playing the map as conflict but with game master and none of the game masters can log in. Even with the auto login feature for the sever.

The radios you have at spawn(conflict) when turned on causes people to disconnect and no one can connect back in..
actually any civilian radio I place on the map and turn on causes a crash

There's 28 men in that boat, lcvps held 38 men. The boat may need too be made bigger lol
in arma its too many.
Well in a server load each boat qith 20 players, you can have 5 boats, then 100 def3nding germans.
There are no shore waves make sure you have set shore config on world entity and generated shore map.
Thanks for making the map. Can some of the points be changed to purple objectives when you get the chance? It's currently impossible to win the game but the map is fun

Just tried running the map in gamemaster and couldn't login to gamemaster with bacons server admin tools. Thought this was fixed? What else might be causing this issue?
