Mod with goal on improving Map Markers in Arma Reforger

Description

BCG - Map Markers Modification (BCG - MMM)
BCG - MMM Is a mod with the aim of making the use of markers on the map in the game better and more advanced.

  • Vanilla UI Re-done (added features to know when you have mod enabled) (open menu to create marker and there you will beside new things, you are able see what version of mod is running)
  • Marker Creator Name is not visible anymore
  • "Eye" Icon on Marker is not visible anymore
  • Limit on amount of caracters per marker is boosted from previous maximum of 16 characters , to 500 (text goes boooom) (About this, it goes for now in one straight line, our goal is to make it possible to drop to new line)

  • There is no limit to the number of markers you can place

What's the main goal of mod?

This is just a start of mod, and its light modification of basic vanilla provided scripts

As placing a maximum of 10 markers per person, it greatly restricts the possibilities and freedom in the creation of our missions for the community. We came to the decision to make a mod in which we will modify the current script in general and make that limit non-existent for the beginning.

Our plan for the future is an even better and more complete version of this mod, with which your experience with map elements will be improved to a much higher level. For more detailed information, as time goes on, you will be informed here in this channel.

Main reason why, is that most of milsim missions we play, require good planning, a good planning without good Map Marker tools is not a good plan 😄

Yes I agree map markers a nice to have when planing a mission.

I was thinking of a two suggestions I feel would be good and suitable.
That would be to add:

• All markers are deletable by anyone
• Marker author name and
‘eye’ icon removed

These were too features in LAB6’s “Map Mark Unlimited” mod which sadly no longer works after the update.

Something to Add would be the ability to draw lines like The pencil in The regular map

Theres two things that come to mind if I hear about giving suggestion to a mod like this:

Firstly, the size of the symbols / disabling scaling of symbols. There needs to be a way to modify the way symbols scale. If you want to have a good drawn tactical map, its impossible to do if symbols overlap with each other just because you zoom out. Should be a priority.

2nd, it should have an option to display Name of the Markplacer. Option therefore to also disable it. This way you could have a line tool or a lot of dots to display AO's for example without the name tags while SL's can still have nametags shown in their tactics on the map.

I always use this site for making my military maps: https://www.map.army/ and it has helped me out a lot. What I most like about it, is how you can modify details / additional information to symbols. Would be nice to maybe have a way of doing this in your mod. So that you could define Symbols with custom text above them

and thank you guys for doing something like this! Makes the tactical side of Reforger more fluently if something like this gets improved on.

About scaling, thats managable to always stay same scale, maybe even have posiblity to customize scale of marker.
2nd thing, option to display names or not to on check box, right now is nearly imposible to be done, it requires whole system to be re-done, and thats gonna take a lot of time.
and about 3rd thing, Currently , looking to create script where you will be able to put your text unlimited, so its not limited to certain amount of letters

@carmine raven hey man, I remembered you saying if I had any ideas to shoot ‘em your way. Well I got an idea, maybe you could look into being able to set your markers (custom type markers only, so not military type marker) to group only.

So only your group can see it and not the hole faction, would be useful to keep cluder down. As-well as if two teams have different plans for a objective, the markers wont over lap or if helicopter pilots have waypoints they really only they need to see.

You think this is doable or no?

I have a suggestion as well , can you make it so the markers stay permanent after restarts?? Is that a thing?? :/ also is it possible to make the interface more user friendly so we don’t gotta jump through difffrrnt toggles to choose a marker?? 😭thanks my friend

thats one of the feature I mostly anticipate, will make this mod a must use for every server

So does it only work on PC or does it only work on KBM? I play on Xbox with a keyboard plugged in. Would it still work?

Sounds interesting. Will have to download and test. I really don't like the vanilla map marker system. Really miss A3 and ACEs setup

So currently not home at the moment to check, but what does this mod change UI wise? Does it make it a little more like Arma 3 in terms of ease of use maybe?

Question, if i put markers down for my boys, and then we all leave the server and rejoin will those markers stay?
