NEXT UPDATE: Ai mesh, wheather fix
KNOWN BUGS: Laggy in some places, the weather is a bit broken. ai don't work, neither do vehicles. and overal it isn't polished but its a prototype so don't worry it will be polished.
WHAT TO EXPECT NOW: 1:1 scale of Minutka and the area around it including a very simple underground sewer area (whitout the destruction)

GOAL: a 1:1 scale of wartorn Grozny including a little bit of terrain around it.
ISSUES:

  1. I don't have the right Assets/Models/Props to make a destroyed version of Grozny, thats why i am keeping the terrain updates a bit limited for now so i don't have to recreate the entire map once i have them, i am not working on any because i don't have any modeling experience.
  2. I am very new to mapping and using the editor engine so please don't be too harsh on me, the people on discord are helping me and I am thankfull for that, but keep in mind im very new and make mistakes so please report bugs and any type of problem so I can try to fix it.
    Right now I ran into a couple of problems that are very hard to fix (for me obviously) but I WILL fix them.

TLDR; This is a prototype, im waiting for the right assets and im using this project for learning puposes until I have "destruction" assets, so don't expect to much detail but expect Bugs, lag, no details and an overall mess until I learn more.

Slow update today, i had not much time so i took my limited time to just place some houses and fences in the suburbs, also another building, and some trees over the tunnel, and a pathway next to it, Basically not much, but many updates will come and i will do a lot more,

The reason it takes so long to make the suburbs (and is a bit boring) is because i am trying to place the houses and buildings on the exact same position as in real life (obviously it won't be 100% correct) Also placing the Gaspipe lines and trees and gates take a long time because its a lot of work but not hard. so i have to look at the picture and place the buildings one by one and not just randomly, at least the map will be more like in real life and not a simple and inaccurate version

Todays update: Added 3 more suburb sections, added details to all others suburbs*, Added some tracks and debries to minutka (unfinished). Tomorrow i will fix the last 4 suburbs (just have to add pipelines, thats it) and i will work a bit more on the detail at minutka.

the reason why the suburbs took so long is because its a lot of work, place houses exactly like on picture, place walls, place gaslines, place trees, paint the ground pathways, sculpt ground. Everything has to be done very carefully so it takes long

also to clarify, once im done with this map, i will make a summer (or just non winter version) of Grozny, (I just have to switch out the snow to grass and make trees with leaves and bushes, easy work and won't take long at all.

Another update is being publishes, i worked some more on the Purple marked parts (look at map), and did some more details (not a lot) and i will be uploading new screenshots to the workshop. tomorrow i will add trees/gates/gaslines to the purple parts that i worked on today and they will be done. (the 3 bottom purple marked parts), then i will work on the last 2 purple parts then the blue and so on

i know updates are slow but it is because im working on it alone and I am trying to look for as many pictures as possible of Grozny (before and during war) then i am trying to make it in game like in real life which takes time of course.

bad news, something is causing errors, whenever i place a empty building, all other buildings just re apear but with furniture, i tried everything but idk what i causing it, so tomorow i will try one last time to swittch to empty buildings (for performance increase) if it doesn't work, then for now we will have to play with furniture

I asked around and i found the answer, the reply i got: "it’s a problem with all map mods, do you have a ton of assets in the map?" , so the problem is that my map got a lot of assets, thats whats causing the slow download speed (for some reason??) I actually was already working on optimizing the map (removing all interiors of the builddings) This will give a MASSIVE performance boost and will most likely also increase the download speed. Unfortunatly i ran into a problem with remove the interiors of the buildings because there is an issue thats causing the interiors to just re-appear even after duplicating etc. So i will now focus on that so everyone can actually play the map

WAIT. XBOX players get slower download speed for some reason, Its also a workshop issiue (the download speed jumps around a lot). So actually forget what i said, this is not my fault, BUT i will still optimize the map by removing interiors. So the slow ddownloadspeed isn't actually caused by my map but because you are either on XBOX or the workshop is being slow, or a combination of both, so really sorry but i can't do anything about it sadly.

Today i will add some more realistic signs (for realism and atmosphere, all these signs where in grozny IRL so i will also post original pictures). I will add another section to the city and work a bit more on the river. Also i will work on the sewers (make them dark firstly) and you can shoot the lights

Also, its a HUGE building. 89meters wide, 30 meters high, and about 19 meters from side to side, Its not exactly 1;1 scale, its off by around 1 meter at most, thats because there is nowhere on the internet what the size was, so i had to do some maths and look at pictures and find out, it was very hard because the area in real life has been completely rebuilding to something different even the streets around it so i had to do a lot of looking into it.

optimizing almost done, I went from 160k triangles to 27k (now), lol. I try to even go lower. the less triangles, the better basically (for performance) goal is to have less then 15k, anything lower is not possible i think but i will try with another tool.

Soon i will start making Khankala Airbase (Russian spawn) then i will make the road from Khankala Airbase to the center, (and add buildings/ houses along the road)

The Chechen spawn will be somewhere in the middle of the city, or maybe in the suburbs, or maybe even further back in the forests/hills of Grozny.

So the creator from the Destroyed buildings pack claimed these where "Game ready" but they are not game ready at all. extrlemy un optimized, so it will take a bit longer since i have to clean them up a bit

You have some floating buildings and may I suggest on your next update you add a usable paper map?

Ill try to continiue the work but it is seriously not good when I re use the same handfull of structures to make the map, it will be very boring and repetetive map. Im making my own assets/structures but the big problem is the texturing part. Its an absolute nightmare but don't worry i will continiue soon

Brothas, sorry for the long wait, i stopped for a long time because every update my map gets ruined, not only my map but also the assets, images, everything its an absolute pain to work this way

i litrally recreated the map at least 7 times and everytime it broke or something with the assets, now im working on it and its going to be good this time

it will, now i can't add any dependencies (other mods, like builddings) for whatever reason, everry update another mess happens but its okay im keep working
