Summary

Created to "debleach" the Vanilla Uniforms, removing the extreme shine eminating from the uniform, vests and helmets and character faces. This should fix that and also adds in previously unused assets while remaining extremely lightweight.

Description

This very simple project aims to darken the uniforms, or as described, "debleach" them. By this, I worked to remove the bright shine that came from character equipment, such as uniforms, helmets and such. I personally thought it was crazy how much shine came from some of the uniforms.

While I was at it, I also added in unused assets such as helmets and vests, but I also made the character faces less shiny. Looks like the Everon Body Oil Factory for Men finally had to close its doors.

This addon was created by me, and is supported on my Discord or here. We're also currently working on a Reforger Conflict server and potentially other ventures as well once we get familiar with the necessary tools.

Since this is somewhat on the topic of making the uniforms look more darker does anyone else hate how bright the new PASGT vest on experimental is?

Also enhanced a bit of the Soviet faction. Added a slight yellowing to the uniforms and changed them to better tuned values - previously I copied the same values for M88 & M81, but with better corrections they look a lot better.

Pretty happy with this one so far. I was initially a bit worried that Soviets looked very bland now compared to the Americans, they had no real depth. But with this, that problem should be avoided entirely and both factions have their unique designs that look sweet on them.

Not sure if anyone has been keeping tabs (lmao I've been dead) but I have restarted work, almost a year later lol

The next version of the mod isn't gonna be much more crazy than what I've done before, but it's gonna be more optimized.

Most textures are inherited, instead of overriden. However, prefabs had to be overriden as it'd cause way too many issues otherwise. Once done with character stuff, I'll also probably move on to some offending things such as sandbags etc.

I will probably be able to release it by tomorrow, but it'll need some feedback for sure - I'm keeping everything as it "should" be per my standards, but there's obviously parts of the mod where I went over the top.

Another minor concern is conflicts with other mods: this shouldn't happen, in theory, as what I did is inherit the textures and then override the prefab uniforms / vests / etc, so they shouldn't really collide - unless a mod maker inherits from it, i.e. for a retexture. However, if they use a base, or duplicate, no problems should occur. Problems will also be immediately obvious, as the entities have the new textures manually replaced inside their files, so if your tigerstripe shirt suddenly becomes woodland, it's debleached.

Pretty happy with it so far, though. It looks good, and that's all I really wanted. I might be able to release a first build tomorrow and keep feedback open.

I'm able to modify any camos that aren't included by default as patches to those mods. This was done specifically for Vanilla assets, not sure if any non-Vanilla assets have the same issue.

The reason I decided to not have the script globally override textures is to avoid odd issues - I had a mod creator report my mod darkened their helmets for some reason when I first released this mod.
