(Stranda first version is discontinued, currently working on Stranda V2, which is a more 1:1 scale and bigger in size. Better for Arma reforger modes.)

Stranda V2:
(Playable area will be around 8x8km, 2 big settlements, a few smaller and lots of rural farms, might add more buildings to the smaller settlements).
Original project has made me get a good hold on how the Reforger tools work. After being close to finished with the original project, Ive decided to scrap the project and make a bigger and truer version of Stranda. Will give updates whenever there's something to show. This map will have two fairly big settlements, with a few smaller ones that should be nice for Conflict. Lots of the action will happen along the southern part while most of the North consist of mountain terrain, forest, rural farms and tiny settlements. Might get creative and add something fun in the mountains..

Stranda old project info:
My first attempt at a map. --------- But keeps expanding. Based on a small village South West in Norway, made into a island with lots of POIs. A lot of the terrain outside of the main village is inspired, therefore not entirely accurate. Some parts are very accurate in the main village.
It is in early stages, but I felt like putting it out here to showcase some of what I've done so far as it is very time consuming, but I'm loving every moment of it.
No determined plan for what type of gamemodes are gonna run on this map yet. Size is probably best for small scale ops and Dayz. It's not up and running for open testing, only closed testing by myself and some friends. Will eventually add it for people to test it once its closer to finished.

So far it is 2,7 square km yes. I still have room for expanding. But I'm adding stuff to the map pretty slowly since I'm learning as I go. I want the map to be detailed and atmospheric. It's probably best as a smaller scale warfare game mode as of now. But nothing is set in stone. Once it is closer to playable you can maybe try it out and see what works and not. πŸ™‚

Edit: Current size is around 9 km2

Will try to add pictures of progress and changes at the end of every week, so people can get an idea of the map.

Changes:

  • Added Wolfs supermarket and made it nicer around the area.
  • Added almost all civ buildings to the town of Stranda.
  • Added Norwegian fish farm, inspired by my brothers workplace, might add more fish farms.
  • Added tunnel (WIP)
  • Made several changes to centrum of town, added side walk and retainer/statue etc.
    More to come!

Update!
Been slow at working on the project, but it's not entirely dead. Work and life is slowing down progression.
Everything shown is still WIP, nothing is 100% done.

  • Added a big landslide and some smaller ones.
  • Connected and added more smaller islands so it's possible to either walk or drive with boats from "mainland" to the islands.
  • Added smaller military encampment on one of the bigger islands.
  • Added more farm civ landplots.
  • Added a swamp area.
  • Added small gas station on main road.
  • Added school.
  • Worked more on the tunnel.
  • Added more civ buildings to the main town.
  • Smaller detailing work, and more!..

  • Finished one of the headlands in Stranda (minus some detailing).
  • Added the norwegian flag to pridefully blow in the wind throughout Stranda. πŸ‡³πŸ‡΄ (Might darken the flag a little.)

Started to fiddle with some custom signs for the map. πŸ›‘ Fun, but time consuming experience! Lots more of the map is shaping up after leaving the detailing work behind and focusing on actually getting shit done. πŸ‘·

Stranda (WIP)

Haven't been working as much on the map as I did before Christmas. But there is progress.
Worked on several parts of the map, focusing on placing down structures, roads and shaping the terrain more to my liking, rather than doing only detailing. Adding a few pics.
One day, it might be playable, maybe.
Biggest challenges is placing down housing and making it look believable, considering how there's no such thing as a flat surface in Norway. But I enjoy the difficulties it may bring.

Added some blurry aestethic photos that show the quality of detail you can expect on the map.
Cozy, lush backyards. Dense forests with rivers. Lots of scenic views, etc.

Monthly update!
Still working on the map, have added more and remade parts that don't make sense etc. Map is coming along. It's not dead! meowawww

Current todo is to find out if its possible to edit or add custom skybox. Any help is appreciated.

Great stuff! Can really see the progress.
First thing I've noticed is that many of your eroded embarkments don't have any collisions, can just walk straight through them. Might have used the wrong colour prefab?

Small update on progress.
Updated in-game map to show roads, topo, and a Conflict mode example. Placed most buildings at their respected location.
Next update will most likely be when the settlements and active playable area are finished. The rest of the Square kilometres that mainly consist of mountain, thick woods, small clusters of houses, will be finished up later on down the road. πŸ‡³πŸ‡΄

How in the hells do map makers stay sane placing down rockformations on a mountain? I just did 100 square metres and I'm already shaking. Just a few more square kilometres! Welp. I'm going to Croatia in a week. ⛱️ 🍹
