Simple mod that changes the appearance of the inventory UI to be more clean with slight functionality changes as well, like a bigger vicinity preview area and a scrollable single column for player inventory (also providing more visibility to what's in your inventory without flipping through pages). Change Notes:

  • Added compatibility with "Zeliks Character" mod (No more overlapping of the mod's added attachment slots).
  • No longer compacts vicinity when doing "Open (New View)" on a weapon/storage/etc (Maintains the 10x6 grid layout).
  • "Open (New View)" now opens the view above the vicinity storage.

I love the fact that the left side is bigger, I mean, is it bigger when there's no multiple storages open?

The vicinity should maintain a 6x10 at all times, even when “compacted” by opening a storage in a new view. You scroll down from the open storage and below it should be the 6x10 vicinity.

It’s kind tough to judge what’s best for the inventory because doing the based-on-mass system is very much not the same as DayZ’s physical space system. So I tried to achieve the best of both worlds, sorta?

I essentially wanted two main things: better visibility of your storage and a cleaner UI. Though I agree, some things don’t hold enough stuff to warrant a 8x5 storage grid, but it seems that it’s not handled per different piece of clothing, it’s just a set grid space.

It’s just the start of the mod right now, but I would like to do a future rewrite of the inventory system as a whole to add grid space as you add stuff to your specific storage I.E. a jacket. So it starts at 8x1 or 8x2 and expands downwards as stuff is added, and you scroll instead of it adding pages. Right now, just learning Reforger modding so it’s the best I could come up with at the moment 😄

And also, I have to keep console in mind, I’m forgetting, so it changes things a bit on how to handle maneuvering the inventory

it cuts off the bottom grid a little bit in vicinity with no height override, so I gotta find another way to fix that or remove a grid row potentially

  • Fixed bug where multiple pages of opened storage (not in a new view) causes the bottom couple grids to be cut off with no way to scroll (TY @ Black_Gold144 for the report).
  • Reduced player inventory item storages to 8x4 (8x5 was too big for lack of carrying stuff)

I like the idea of this mod, but in it's current form I lose the overview of my gear. Is it possible make it dynamic so it only expands when the current slots are filled? I've attatched a screenshot of how I currently like to run my gear, with the two extra bags open in a new window. I've also added a mockup of a few possible solutions. Solution 3 being my current favorite.

The combine magazines button is slowly, but surely, being made. A lot more difficult than I assumed, but that’s mostly due to my lack of script knowledge

how difficult would it be to do a right side vanilla version of this, as I really love the left side extension to the bottom, but I find it annoying to have to scroll all the way down to my backpack everytime. Im kinda missing those two columns!

hey! sorry for the ping, but I tested just now with an Xbox controller and it seems that I'm able to scroll through the inventory, but not beyond 3 storage items for some reason. Is this the issue you were experiencing when testing?

Xbox players werent able to scroll at all before just now like key bind didnt exist for it or something

It works fine for mouse + keyboard, but not for controller for some odd reason. So I don't know if some vanilla setting is somewhere preventing from scrolling beyond 3 storages on Xbox

Figured out why, it was a navigation down rule setting the storagegrid widget to explicit, changing it to escape fixes the scrolling issue for controller users 🙂

Probably gonna be some type of downside to changing this, but so far, haven't experienced any

Minor Bug Fixes:

  • Scrolling was broken for controller users, it now should be fixed and passed internal testing
  • Updated some code to just be better overall
  • Fixed layout being shifted to the right for when Zelik's Character mod is loaded, should look normal now :)
