#Sneak peek for a ballistics overhaul

Alrighty
Here's my plan.
Starting with the U.S ammunition, I will revamp the ammo prefabs to be MUCH more close to life
Aka, more lethal up close
Starting with M855
Oooh, nice
Probably
If I can find the data for them
New 7N6 damage data
Based on a test at 75 yards (68.58 meters)
So, did some testing
The new damage output results in much more reliable damage at close range
New 7N6 numbers
New M855 numbers
Two shots for M16A2 and AK-74 for chest hits
One shot to the arm and chest is now lethal every time!
Sweeeet
Is there a setting for muzzle velocity anywhere?
Yea
In the ammo prefab files
Why?
Just wondering, I cant access them myself
Ah
Is there a plan to add more changes to the ballistics from the mod or no?
Yes
I plan on 7.62x39 next
Fire thank you bro for your work!
No problem!
Awesome
Did you guys test it out for yourselves?
Will very soon
What were the previous values beforehand?
Usually around 67 - 70
Average was 67
Word up I'll test in 1st when i get the chance
After the realization that RHA armor is not the same density of mild steel, I reached the new numbers for M855
Still 5 points higher than 7N6
Killer
Your tests are going well?
We're setting things up rn actually
Oh
Will send when mission is complete
I thought you guys would set up a range of unarmed guys to shoot at like I did 🤣
Lmao nothing like a live fire scenario to really push the limits
Have some pictures and videos
Was it more consistent or...?
Retrieving videos of the other members
Ah
Yes it was by my account
Did you ask the others?
I see
The 7.62x51?
Yes my apologies
Weird, it seems that health is not directly correlated to bullet damage
Maybe all of this was unnecessary?
I haven't been able to test the 7.62x39 but the guy next to me was using the MK17
5.56?
Got ya
But now I think that this is the way to go for damage related stuff
The ballistics overhaul can be used in tandem though
Considering the vanilla bullet references, i do believe this is a step in the right direction in terms of lethality
Sounds like a swell idea
Although like last update, dependencies may become a future issue but a pro is that is could be less work to fix
seems like 7.62x39 has more damage than 5.56 and 5.45?
High damage, low penetration (which is pointless as there is no armor setup for the game yet) so basically.. 7.62x39 is the best round to use for pure damage. Judging from his value screenshot
Agreed as it should be
As much as i would love a 7.62x39 AR, 5.56 is generally a more widely used weapon
Will just mean people using the mod will need to shoot first if on the US side. Training and reaction time will start to matter.
Yea, the way arma calculates damage is a bit screwy at the moment
Oh, before I forget
I changed those values based on the fact that mild steel is less dense than RHA
So, in reality, the penetration would be lower
Though I'm not sure how much lower
I'll revert that change because I can change the penetration density
It seems that the 5.56 tracer rounds have much worse ballistics when it comes to trajectory
That's what usually happens
As far as I know
Not at <200 meters tho
Wait are you AceIntheHole?
Yep
Hey how’s the progress in the smoke rounds for the 40MM ? I used the flare rounds and they are amazing btw. They work perfectly.
Doing well
About those flare and smoke rounds for 40mm... There's a small issue with the actual reload system in the game, I was using that mod the other day but found myself forced to shoot a flare instead of a grenade because even if I kept pressing the reload button, the game wanted me to shoot either flare red or flare green... There once was a mod with a radial menú for reloading that does not work anymore sadly.
Can this be fixed or something?
@honest cipher could you put M855A1 and the overhaul on experimental?
?
could u upload your mods to the experimental version of reforger
i wanna test how it is with the new body armor
