well if things are destructible by default later then anything can blow up things

big explosions make sense if they can destroy things so it will be exciting to play with

if I can figure out why furniture is indestructible (or rather undeletable) and fix it I might publish some sort of jdam type explosion

in my video I simply try to delete things in a radius, but tree destruction is there in the codebase though likely not fully functional yet

it will definitely cause lag because a lot of different things are being deleted very fast, but if I add it to game master fx it will have a budget requirement high enough to not allow using more than one at a time

it also deletes cliff rocks and stuff which is no bueno
as you can see some items stay on the ground when they kinda shouldnt
So your clips have got me thinking someone could do rudimentary destructible ground areas with ground/dirt pieces and rocks to form holes with the explosions? Not really efficient to do across the whole map but just an idea for scenarios perhaps
(example: Blast a hole into an underground bunker)
Maybe you can use terrain transformation to make holes ? The system use when you place a building

Thinking of fun ways of destroying trees, have you tried Far Cry style spreading fire?
Indeed. Although a lttile dissapointing the fire would always eventually extinguish itself... but I guess it has too if there isn't a mechanic to put the fire out.
there is no ability to set things on fire in the game yet
only a special case with vehicles
There is campfires, just an FX, but I guess all fire is in a game is FX + dmg.
I just start thinking about fires a lot, because the USS Tarawa is like 30% fire-fighting equipment lol.
All I need is the ability to make custom shaders and use them on things, GPU particles and two weeks
@exotic gale its just a thought but do you think with the latest VFX update there'll be improvements? Like everything disappearing after a sudden explosion is strange, you kinda expect to see a mess of debris and stuff

Careful what you wish for... if every modder goes to work for BI, then there wouldn't be many mods. Motivations are the same; i.e. making cool stuf for the sake of it rather than getting rich.
rich? working at a game studio lmao. only the guys at the top like that who goes to Thailand all the time. everyone else has a basic slave wage job
game studios are on the low end of salaries compared to other companies in cgi, It ect.
This was kinda my point, which you just reiterated 😄 . Which is not to say there is not a lot of money in games; there is. You just don't get it working a salaried position.
