MD500 - Civilian and Military variants

The MD500 mod has been released. This mod currently includes MD500 base with multiple civilian skins, as well as combat variants. The mod is still very much work in progress, but waiting on some things was taking forever and we wanted to get this to the public. Very aware of the inability to reload pilot controlled vehicle mounted weapons as well as the inability to animate their magazines. We hope a fix for this is implemented in the near future.

The LittleBird does not work like a turreted vehicle. It's a pilot controlled weapon system. Weapons are slotted to the vehicle, not turrets.

Also, Strider is a part of Project Redline and had a major hand in this.

The A2 hind isn't worth working on. If someone provided a decent quality model we could do it, it's just not currently worth the expense.

I'm unsure exactly what qualities might be lacking from this model or need to be added, other than the obvious weapons incorporated into the model itself that may need some tweaking, so you can add empty states for rocket pods and stuff

they do work for me, you have 4 weapons to cycle as a pilot but there is no UI indicator which weapon you're on

So i played around with the Little bird for a few hours with my group, had a blast and i can already imagine the CAS support I’ll provide them during ops.

Bugs/Glitches:
The rotors when you start the chopper begin and then they slow down and turn the other way before the heli takes off.

The camera bugs out sometimes when flying in third person (Changes positions, snaps into weird places before going back to normal)

Possible Improvements:
The only main improvement id suggest is a target sight for the miniguns and rockets, to make it more accurate when firing.

I can understand the switching between the rocket pods because you can’t reload them but for the mini guns it would be cool to shoot both at the same time (Id understand if there was an issue with this)

Other than those there aren’t anything else I’d suggest or glitches to report, but overall amazing mod i had a alot of fun while mucking around and can’t wait to use it more extensively in the future

I i also got to mention when you shoot the rockets, the rockets become visible in the air and stay static there (visible to everyone unless everyone who sees it leaves and rejoins the server)

And the audio for the miniguns sometimes bug out when in third person and go silent or the sound comes in and our in bits (Reusing the blackhawk again for other things i might of missed) In first person the audio is fine

The rockets are more like a bombing run the come from below the heli also the pods are not there just one rocket …. I know it’s a WIP just giving feed back and the Deceleration of the helicopter when landing seems to be off and the rockets do cause a brief frame drop / freeze THANK YOU FOR RELEASING THIS AWSOME BIRD 🥹🎉

I may have a note to add albeit great work overall on the functionality and design

The little bird tops out at 100-115 km/h and im unsure if this was intended.

Some character clipping issues for pilot seat when wearing certain gear resulting in exposed limbs/ joints.

Lastly, I'm also unsure if this was intended but when landed pilots are unable to look left/right, at risk of tipping the airframe unless holding down the collective

Collisions in the helicopters are wonky. They can faceplant buildings without a scratch but will have full on meltdowns if touched by other vehicles.

Finally managed to fly the helicopter and I had a few points of feedback:

-As others have said the helicopter feels really slow

-Some kind of sharpie mark on the window of the AH-6 would really help out a lot for aiming.

-The mini guns are really laser beams, maybe add a tiny amount of spread to them

-It’s too easy to accidentally fire off more missiles than you intend to by accidentally holding the fire button a fraction of a second too long

-Destroying the Helicopter spawns BTR wheels for some reason

Really awesome to have another helicopter in the game now guys. Great job

You’re gonna constantly change the dot since its not zeroed/sighted in for every distance. Not to mention the rockets are not directly under the pilot so it will always be off centred

I noticed bots don't engage the little bird. Try place a helicopter with your soldier inside. Bots will call for enemy on sight but won't shoot. At least I tried this and that happened

None of the updates have pushed, so everyone is still using the initial version. Hopefully something gets fixed tomorrow. Both the Blackhawk mod getting pushed from the US East Coast and the LittleBird mod getting pushed from the West coast, on two different accounts, are having issues publishing.

If you’re having a problem with the little birds rocket pods disappearing I narrowed it down that ashyl’s “better vehicles” mod is the cause. Idk why it is but deactivating it fixed the rocket pods.

Got some bugs with the new update
Bugs:
Camera angled to the right more (Will provide pics) in first and third person

When you take off the rotors spool up then slow down then you take off then mid-air the rotors turn the other way and spool up again as your flying.

The audio for the Rockets and Miniguns are still wacky in third person (going in and out of sound)

Opinions/suggestions

I still think for the little bird with the weapons a sight should be added.

In my opinion the speed update made it really fucken fast, not sure if its meant to be that fast but its very fast.

The miniguns fire at the same time (both) instead of switching between them.

(Not sure if intentional or not) The maneuverability seems more sluggish with the new update and you have to yank more for the helicopter to move to that position. Like it takes longer to turn when full speed and when you tilt it forward its a struggle

The rotor effect you see is just because we don't have blur yet. It's the rotor speed matching your fps/refresh rate making it look like it's going the wrong way

Hello, I've found an issue with little bird mod...
Note THIS HAPPENS WITH EVERY POSSIBILE EXAMPLE on XBOX SERIES X.
I've tested,
ONLINE
OFFLINE
ARLAND
EVERON
MODDED MAPS
WITH MULTIPLE MODS
WITHOUT ANY OTHER MODS

The result is always the same, when Project Redline - MD500 is activated some vehicles don't show flames when catch fire.
They do make sound and they do start loosing armor, but flames aren't visible.

I believe what that rule is really meant to encompass is NSFW content and shit. They just word it like that so they have the authority to effectively and legally remove content from the site

Besides, it would be pretty dumb if modern conflicts were in a magical “no touching” zone. The fact is that all war leaves someone pissed off, or grieving. We can’t just draw the line because it’s “too controversial”

Any depictions of any ongoing or recent conflict is rather distasteful, especially one so controversial. There’s no reason why you couldn’t just use regular unmarked Russian vehicles. Furthermore, put yourself in the shoes of anyone currently in or effected by the war… it’s rather morally inconsiderate. Especially since there’s a simple option of making said vehicles without the markings.

Obviously making equipment from said war is really no issue but it’s so recent and ongoing that making markers that are in support of a side is really distasteful

I have this happening now on joining a server, so it seems it only happens during JIP/streaming?

Also, is there any word on making the helicopters clean up with garbage collection/entity clearing button? If this only happens for destroyed choppers the garbage collector would eventually remove the entity and people could join the server again

Can you replicate this behavior with only R3D_CORE loaded, no other mods? Or does the MD500 specifically have to be loaded as well?

I utilize r3d_core a lot and does not generate this issue. It is related only to the MD500 I've also tested it with just the MD500 and I can confirm it is that mod alone causing this bug

I wish I could upload a video but I dont have nitro anymore... This screenshot shows that all russian vehicles have no issuesand they burn normally, the us vehicles on the other hand dont work very well when using the MD500 (only us trucks seem to show flames normally).

I've set fire to all vehicles to test this while using only md500 and of course its dependency, which we utilize very often even with other mods and does not give any issue
