#Realistic Eye Zoom - Arma Reforger

But the human eye does not "zoom" and the reason it is difficult is based on you are looking at a small screen from a distance rather then being placed in the world with 114 degrees of view horizontally which the human eyes have when combined. If anything this is more unrealistic.
Playing in first person without any right click zoom is the most realistic approach.
The problem I find is the resolution of the screens. When you play on a 1920x1080 monitor it's hard to distinguish shapes and enemies because there are only 4 pixels.
The human eye is much sharper in seeing details, it's true that we don't have zoom, but we can concentrate and focus our eyes on a single point.
I guess that's what this mod is trying to simulate.
The only problem I see is how people abuse their use as if they were binoculars while running or jumping. When normally you usually want to stay in the distance when you look away.
Thanks for the feedback - the reasoning is that on a 1080p monitor with no zoom, the resolution of your screen means that you can't see a human silhouette even at something like 200m where in real life you can make out the silhouette of a person up to 500 meters and shoot accurately. Since I can't make a mod that increases the resolution of your screen, zooming is a compromise between the "resolution" of your real life eyes and the limitations of game monitors. It is a simulation after all, and enemies can spot and shoot at me from 400 meters away. If you want the fine details of my reasoning and some of the math behind it, I detail it all in the mod description
Although reading these replies, I'd love to try to add a feature that reduces or disables the zoom while moving, vaulting, low on stamina, etc. I just need to do a little more learning on the fine details of the enfusion engine before I can do that, so it might take some time. For the time being, this is mostly just made for my personal use in single player, I just figured I'd share it in case anyone else is also having difficulty with the game's built in zoom
