Completely off topic with this convo, but I did some dicking around with tanks on Sefrou Ramal, and dear god I want to have a massive tank battle on this map.
Also, does the sand have a lower traction than the the other terrains? I managed a few tank drifts on the dunes that I don't feel like I could manage on the other maps.

has anybody ran into issues with the intel dropoff at the tent?
I am running a few mods (CBA, Enhanced Movement, CUP units/weapons, L3-GPNVG18) and can't drop any intel off at the tent that I collect.
I'm not too far in, about to reset completely vanilla and re-attempt it
some reported such issues, but so far we were unable to reproduce it at all.
i don't know if someone knows about this but there is literally a free plane in the improvised dirt runway

if it is not loaded, you won't have it (it is a CDLC)
I do own the CDLC and have it loaded rn. I see some assets in the Editor. Would like to filter for the CDLCs content though.
somewhere on the top right corner, directly above the unit list there should be a search bar. theres a dropdown menu where you can select to only view specific mod or cdlc assets

Playing my second run of Extraction on Stable, shoot an APC with a PCML and destroyed it just fine. Got killed a few minutes later so I had to reload a save just before I killed the APC. Somehow the PCML missile goes trough the APC now. The APC moves, attacks and can be hit by other vehicles (it has collisions) but no matter of what angle I shoot it from the missile always goes though it without damaging it. It does go into alert mode after the missile passes though it. (And no I am not missing it I have tried it like 20 times and always the same result. Don't know if reloading the save broke some of the enemy vehicles or it is a mission thing. It is not an old save by the way... I can provide save game file for anyone to test it.
Funny, I have now an invincible APC at the middle of the map just to mess up my campaign everytime

Yeah. It is most likely related to how the saved game is loaded. Never seen this bug before but not surprised either. Western Sahara would have greatly benefited by a custom MP compatible save system. Something simple like Grad Persistence would have worked greatly. Grad even saves global variables, markers and triggers etc... and the guys over there are super helpful too.

It might not seem so just by reading the review but I gave it a positive score and a recommendation too. It got to 80% of what I wanted from a MP Hunter Six campaign. I hope it continues until it is closer to 100% 😉

Really!? I remember reading some guys on the forum say so and besides Extraction has the same "Find Intel" + "Rescue the missing kidnapped VIP" + Random locations thingy going on. It is like 70% Hunter Six. I will changed to "Inspired by Hunter Six" perhaps?
hunter six missions are not unique honestly, most persistent modes already had that before and have it now. I'd say it's just a reiteration of a similar scheme instead of "inspiration".

Arma 3 as a whole has very few public servers, not from lack of provision, but as the community of players generally play in microcommunities on self-managed servers
So public server population / popularity is not an indicator of the game or dlc popularity

There's a couple of popular game modes, even with full vanilla. But much of the community is extremely fragmented, on purpose.

Depends on what you mean, you can usually find a game of extraction running on the official servers.
Even if you're the first to join it usually fills up not long after in my experience

WS has public servers, not super active, but you can pretty much always get someone to play Extraction. As far as I know GM has pretty active servers too.

not sure if this is the right place to ask but is there any particular reason why not all the Marshall variants are available for ION and UNA? They clearly exist since the VR showcase features the ATGM variant for ION and you can find fully functional base marshalls for both ION and UNA in the asset browser (I think that's what it was called at least) in the editor.
mostly to avoid clutter and give at least a little more nuances to the single factions. it's kinda lame if everyone has 1:1 exactly the same stuff.
that said, the textures exist and you can easily either script them (change textures), or just add new classes in a mod

@bleak shale i dont know if it's related or not, but we have identified an issue with serverside particle fx not showing on clients in MP and reported it to Bohemia a few weeks ago after the last update to A3. e.g. when AI mortars fire in a mission, you no longer see the muzzle gas fx on clients.

It also sometimes happens in sp, there are sometimes no effects at all (like shooting the ground, grenade explosions, effects in general). Though reseting the arma solves the issue

Saves in multiplayer are bugged and should not really be used.
Vanishing slots, issues with restoring from the save after game restart.

I doubt there will be any changes to how saving in the game works at this point of development.

personally i think that complains about broken saves in mp would be far worse than the current complains about not being able to save

In theory you could try having some sort of custom saving feature which hold state of your task FSM, intel, randomed things in profile namespace.
But there's still issues with showing to the user that it's loading the save, how to start new game if it saved already... rabbit hole.
we also had issues with player position, etc
you would reconnect and only the host was ok, everyone else is back at the fob with starting gear

I guess the best you can do is having a dedicated server with persistence enabled.

only thing that saves is zones state, this kind of saving is not feasible in such story scenario as Extraction IMHO.
It's not impossible but it would be hard to get right.
And after peeking under the hood it does not seem feasible to add scripted saving to it at this state, at least I would not bother if I would be the dev. ;D

the solution is simple, find more time to play Extraction in one go. It's like what, 3-4 hours to complete it assuming you are not playing barbie in the arsenal

if you are trying to ask if multiplayer saving will be possible in Arma 4, all answers are in the link Lou has provided. For Arma 3 there won't be such a thing because it's a core feature/issue.
The more important question is when can this DLC save the progress of multiplayer games
and there is no guarantee Western Sahara will be moved to Arma 4, BI haven't released any statement regarding this.

that's sadly not going to happen anytime soon. also i'm not sure if the mission file is really that useful for that kind of stuff. it's probably easier to build a new mission from scratch in similar style.

CDLC teams are not allowed to guarantee/announce future content, because can never know if something bad happens along the way.

Well, you could be correct about this. But what are you really trying to say here?
- You already know that Lexx can't confirm that due to BI policy.
- That's not even correct. WS has had 2x major updates (+1 mini patch), SOGPF has had 2 (+1 mini hotfix), CSLA has had 2 hotfixes.
Only GM has had a ton but that's because it's the oldest of the lot.

Not true at all. What you define as "Major Updates" are nothing more than bug fixing patches. "Major Updates" involve adding assets and content that was planed but did not made it into the launch release. Anyone reading the changelog can confirm what I just stated.
Well, many reviews on steam liked what was there but complained that the amount of content of content was lacking. I don't know if the sales were "good enough" to justify adding more content to the cDLC and basically I am asking if the cDLC is considered "done" or "we are still working on some potential stuff". Not confirming anything or promising anything but at least that we can assure potential buyers (friends etc) that they can buy it expecting some extra stuff in the future or if this is all they will get
Well, I can respect that value judgement.
But, as a longtime member of this Discord, you are well aware that these CDLCs are not exactly multinational commercial enterprises.
The fact that the developer personally answers questions in chat is evidence enough.
And although I honestly don't think every player should get the DLC, I do think what it does and does not offer is clearly enough advertised.
So, when I read your question, it just feels like you're using direct access to the developers to squeeze out some sort of concession.
Or even just saying: "I don't like your product (enough), but I do want you to spend time personally selling it to me".
It's just not very polite.
Mmh, there's reasons why many professional teams don't give detailed roadmaps. Also one thing to consider is the scope of the DLC (eg. pricing and how extensive the feature set or the stated content are)... some CDLC simply have bigger teams and more ambition
(Not to say WS is in any way insignificant, what little I had opportunity to dabble with had potential, bringing a fresh breath to vanilla ARMA 3)
I already bought two copies of this cDLC by the way.... but when I invite more friends to play coop they often ask if it is still in the works that is all
Many times the other cDLC members stated that more content was being worked on by them... way before releasing it.
So in a sence I am asking just for that same treatment. Not roadmaps or anything concrete but a "we still have future plans" or "we have completed the project as it was intended".
we are indeed working on a content update, but as with the other teams, we can't talk about what will happen and when it will happen. there are many things to consider in this and due to the nature of this not being our main job, things can delay / change easily. that said, i think the cdlc price is more than fair for the release content. we even threw in lots of stuff that was never supposed to be in there, for free.
Maybe this for the next update, we never know. 😃

I guess anything coming in the future are just bonuses for loyal fans and also to boost some extra sales.
Just wanted to say to the devs/people who worked on this dlc is they did an amazing job with the weapon reloading animations, sometimes I just reload weapons and see their animations again and again lol, also love the factions, SFIA being my favorite as they feel like a force that could give NATO a challenge. Also finally we got a 2035-esque looking Anti Air Turret which is also very cool, well worth the money! Can't wait to see more.

you can't
multiplayer does not support status saving except some custom features like Liberation mode have, there were some tries to make Extraction saveable but none worked so far, you just have to finish it within the time you and your friend have.
like it's just only me and my friend so we can't speed run the whole "Extraction" in 1 afternoon
it's possible to finish it in something around 3 hours. sadly there is no other way at this point -- or you run a dedicated server which has the mission running at all times.

it has its own crosshair that should actually be precise
it's part of the ballistics computer function - not much we can influence here
Yea ik its just irritating yknow? Like the CIWS works fine, as does all the coax and commander guns on Tanks
thing is that their guns always have the same statistics, so they are zeroed to the crosshair. but the gundrone can be equipped with different rifles which all have a different zeroing

@hallow widget I'm returning to an issue with Extraction I reported some time after WS release when I told you that when I took an enemy vehicle, a friendly APC fired at me killing the vehicle, but my squad was alive and noone targeted my teammates or me, my score also wasn't on minus. So this still happens whenever I take an enemy vehicle and drive it around friendlies fast enough, so they don't know about me neither have spotted me before I jumped in and I always get shot at.
What I noticed today tho is that whenever I enable a difficulty setting to show a green or red circle depending on which side a unit or vehicle I see is, if I put greenfor/blufor team into a redfor vehicle, it still highlights as a redfor unit. I'm not using any mods so this seems to be a default behaviour or something that is being overriden by WS

so in Extraction there is no script or waypoint that would force UNA tank destroyer to fire at opfor APC located near a checkpoint during the task with delivering a truck from one point to another?
