Check if he has multiple addons loaded. If not -> Check the Filesizes.

Different Name, old stuff, something in the settings of the launcher that loads mods (old ones)
Everything is from our server through Arma3 Sync
Check the Launcher of your buddy also, if there is something in the init-line like -mod= bla (no clue how it looked like, can't remember)
What you described, sounds like (as dedmen said) not matching Versions of the Map on one of your CLients (for whatever reasons, it doesn't matter)

There is always some low level magic that breaks things without you noticing.
The thing that made me suspicious were the different Coords:
Check Left/Right on your screens. It's the first indicator that something must be wrong with the Addons

It's the only mod I loaded, and haven't touched it since I last tested with it. Which loaded fine then. Grant it last test was about a week and half ago.
The fun begins, when you edit a file for about 2hrs, wondering why nothing changes and you finaly notice: Oh, that was my Backup file... -.-
I did that last time, kept editing my back up and was like WTF why is nothing changing.

I've actually done that multiple times when editing configs on remote machines, haven't noticed that I'm in the wrong terminal window and I've edited the local machines configs instead of the remote
which is then double the pain, because I have to undo the local changes and still apply them to the other machine
Like an issue we had at work, patches were applied to the wrong server. Result was that this particular server hadn't been updated in 8 years

You are including that file from description.ext. You can't do that with missions packed in Eden.

so recently my settings for both keybindings +audio/visual have been going to there defualts regardless of what i set them to and dont want to create a new profile, is there any solution to fix this other than making a new profile and transfering everything over

engine can't handle preprocessor commands errors and just crash
any error from preprocessor commands WILL crash the game
missing character, missing quote, if the command doesn't run as inteded it crashes

@mental pendant You may want to try out a tech forum for the specific database help, but first I'd recommend start your DB setup from scratch and ensure you follow all the right steps (especially if it's your first time creating a DB)
im getting really low performance w hile playing MP. systemrequirementlab says i exceed recommneded settings and the in-game auto detect sets me at ultra settings but im getting like ~20 FPS and my GPU is harldy working at all. R9 290X (OCed) and an i5-4690k (OCed) and 22GB DDR5 corsair gaming ram....
its not bottlenecking. i can play other games just fine.
ive tried core unparking. all gpu drivers are up to date
that's par for the course when playing a massive game like Arma @rose eagle , in multiplayer there are a vast number more calculations happening behind the scenes, and typically alot more happening.
It of course depends on the quality of the server, the number of players on the server, and whether the scripts on the server offload calculations to you
gotcha. so is it best ot just p lay an unmodded server?
but never expect to get performance similar to singleplayer on a multiplayer server

I mean, mods are what's made arma my only game for the past 8 or 9 years
so don't give up on mods, but you may have to accept foor fps, ~20 isn't entirely terrible, but drop your settings and definitely see if you can lower your AA & post processing settings
there's not much they can do for MP that will be a total overhaul
but there are some servers that are run much better than others..
alright. 20 fps is avg. when i ADS i drop to 4-9 for a few seconds its quit a buzzkill
for example, I run things called headless clients, which offload calculations to other servers/cpus, and it helps our frames quite a bit. we can comfortably run 90-100 players on 30gb of mods.

it depends on the server you're playing on, but typically unless it's a dedicated community server, they're generally don't have the same quality hardware.
so basically crappy server = crappy client experience.

I had somewhat terrible FPS and freezes when entering towns/flying as I had everything on Ultra whilst on a HDD
I'd tone stuff down to Standard or slightly higher, keep view distance and object distance around 1500-3000 and see what I get
There is sceneComplexity param in nick_name.arma3profile which is one of the most effective way of performance tweaks. That is total number of polygons in scene,
guys with low specs pc's got significant improvements just by lowering this value... the lowest value was something about '500000' without troubles and to low polys objects
In A2 the lowest was about 300000if i remember correct

anyone know how to fix the issue where you cannot hear other players weapon firing sounds in multiplayer? can't see the muzzleflash effects either, tried disabling all dlc, mods, etc.

issue popped up around the time i grabbed the jets dlc but ive ran into it before, it fixed itself randomly but came back

still have the issue w/ mods, so ill start narrowing down the list
Try to reduce the "Sound Sources" in your Options Menu (idk, 64 or so)

If the server uses mods, you could've some issue with a mod like corrupted, missing or edited file
I bought the game and have been able to play in one server for about an hour. After that though, I got an error saying that the "Battleye client is not responding", not being able to be in any server for more than 30 seconds. From what I could gather, it doesn't have a fix yet. Is this basically the "red ring of death" of Arma or is their a solution?

and then it gives the stringable error
It usually says "loading mission" when it tries to load a mission

then #missions and try to start your broken mission.
then disconnect from the server. and send that server log
The RPT's appear to not log anything useful, so only the old fashioned way works: Go full vanilla (mods and mission), and then enable one after the other until it breaks.
That's why I said force it to log something by successfully loading a mission so we know that it does indeed log.
And that way we can also make sure we get the correct log. And not maybe the wrong one

I still think my method is the way to go. It'll take a while, but is guaranteed to at least find the faulty addon / mission, as long as it works with all vanilla.

Yeah, the servers RPT is definitely weird. If you'd start a mission, it would log XEH preInit in frame 1.
And then retry and send new log. It will 100% log when it tries to load the pbo.

Spaces are definitely not underscores. And spaces terminate the start parameter arguments, which is fixed by using quote marks, not by chaging the addon names to something wrong.
The BIKI start parameters page for sure tells you about encasing it in quotes. And says nothing about replacing stuff by underscores
