My server was getting "Steam Authentication timed out" earlier
now it just doesn't work

all of my players are stuck in the lobby for a few minutes before being kicked for Steam auth timed out

Fixed it for my server. Blocked all IP's our Server was connecting to (52.20.79.163 and 217.147.95.136) in the firewall and added players to the headlessClient list. Now we can play without steam auth :3

Both seem to be tcp connections to 443. Don't know if Adding to headless client list is important. Did that before and didn't work. But works now

Steam Auth messed up again 3rd day in a row now
i am trying to run a tanoa map. during its creation i only used 6 mods, the smae mods are loaded on the server. still i get this message Warning Message: You cannot play/edit this mission; it is dependent on downloadable content that has been deleted.
apart from one soldier for the player there are no objects on the map, just some modules...
if only it would tell me which content is missing...

classname capitalization can change from patch to patch is almost guaranteed to be changed by any addon inherititing from any of these, so your bug is being lazy and not using toLower

when i start the update i get a notification that this pc has not been authorized. i cancel the update, go to my mails, get the steam guard code, paste it in the field under "steam account" and retry but getting the same message again.... any tips?

before i open a ticket with the feedback tracker: can anyone confirm that while using optics, double tapping + on numpad locks the zoom in and doubletapping - does not lock the zoom out? in A2 i totally used the zoom out while clearing buildings which worked splendid.
on default keybinds your mouse 3 + 4 will lock zoom. you might look into what that bind is called
Didn't try to lock the zoom out for some time. But it was working in the past
im not on default. and it was never working in the past. just recently i was trying to use it again and got mad at it again so now im asking.
there certainly is an option for your zoom to remain a certain level depending on how long you press those buttons. at least that is how it works on the mouse. I wouldn't use any buttons that are far of tbh

I am not having problems with zooming in. I am having problems with zooming out, locking it (doubletap) and using optics. but since i dont use the mousewheel to zoom in and out, i will give it a try, even if the zoom out lock doesnt work as for now with current perf_branch.
It actually is the thumb buttons on the mouse if yours has them. like on the side of the mouse.

I found a problem. If you wrote in player's init this disableAI "ALL" he wont be able to rotate the gun as a gunner

hey guys , hope someone could help me. am making altis life server, everything is working server is up, but i got randomly sesion lost sometimes, verry wierd, sometimes after 2hours sometimes after 5minutes its wierd, my server is a dedicated here on my second Computer - internet speed is 22mb download 4MB upload. never had problems before, qeustions is is i crypted my file so guys could not steal it can it be because of that OR .. does it something to do with Verify signatures v2 , i dont know its wierd
H: After I press the start button in the launcher, Arma 3 itself takes anywhere from 10-40 seconds to start(the Logo with the loading-bar appears) with no indication that anything is happening up to that point. I've tried to reinstall as well and removing all profiles and files in the arma folder. No difference between starting in from lanucher or from EXE and no difference if moded or not.

Why not do that and reenable it when someone connects?
It really shouldn't tbh. Switching the unit over to a player should suspend all that disableAI stuff, however it actually works.
And it should take effect again when the player leaves the unit.
HandleDisconnect and initPlayerLocal.sqf for a workaround.

@desert isle it only started recently, Don't know if it started related to a patch as I didn't play A3 dec-jan, but it was an instantanious start before. I have SSD, 16 ram and an i7 from last year and the whole thing. I don't even know how to begin troubleshooting it.
Are you using startup parameters ? Like this: "C:\arma3\arma3.exe" -nosplash -skipintro;
I use the launchers checkboxes for these parameters; HT, no logs Static background, skip logos. Hangon Ill try without.
Sadly no change in startup time.
I'm travelling at the moment so can't go too in depth at this time. What I would suggest is to try and track down everything that you've done with your PC since the last time you played A3. (Installed/deleted programs, etc) Take a systematic, step by step approach.
This time it took 4min 32 seconds. And now I started it instantly 4 times in a row. I hate when there is no consistency with my computer problems. @desert isle thanks for help, I will tinker abit more and if I can't figure it out I will take it to the forum.

So I am waiting for it to start now, there is no Arma process in the Task Manager but there is BEserive and Battleeye Launcher(32bit).

I can't replicate it anymore on the second time starting the game in one windows boot up. Last night when playing with some friends I had to restart the game, due to the 3fps thing and, at that second startup there absolutely where a delay.
no clue tbh... according to the RPT the startup takes less than a minute both times

It seems that I have fixed it by cleaning up in Windows %TEMP% folder, I don't know what was the cuase, though.
Some googeling on it is Arma issues with temp folder solutions is saying it's BE's fault. vOv.

It came back, so I deleted all BE stuff I could find on my computer and Verified Integrety and it seems to be working.

in my experience the server's load affects my personal frame rate as well. It helps to flush the personal system but it won't help to reset the frames to mission begin rates
we were like 4 people
Initially Altis missions, later Tanoa
seemed to speed up the process
only scripts running afaik was F3
And within F3, only markers run throughout
And that code is stable enough to most likely not be an issue
it also makes little sense that a new mission would start in a degraded state
but not after restarting the game

my frames only go that low when a lot of AI is spawned and destroyed.
3 fps thing occurs to me when I load a lot of map during long gameplays. i.e. traveling the map in a chopper for 2 hours

In all my low fps cases so far the cause was either script, too many animations running or sound (sometimes sound bugs out and runs 70ms per frame)
None of them Server or GPU draw
Ofc draw still get's crazy with 10k view distance. But that's to be expected
I can only say run prof build and check what causes it. 2 people in my Group always run prof build so that we exactly know what caused a perf problem when it appears. When everyone is lagging the last they wanna hear is "We're trying to find what the error is" they wanna hear "We know what the Problem is. Fixing it now"

I have a Thrustmaster T16000M and I can see it in my controllers section and I can choose a profile to map to it, but when I try to use it nothing works. Also, if I try to manually set keybinds the game doesn't seem to recognize the input. I've tried installing new drivers, switching USB ports, modifying registry, etc.
I'm running an i5 3570k, GTX 1080, 16GB RAM and Windows 10 Anniversary edition.

I've been getting a bad "hesitation" when I ADS and when I pull the trigger (sending the first round down range). I mostly play KotH, so not sure if it's an Arma 3 issue, or a KotH issue. Moving Windows and Arma 3 to ssd's solved this issue in the past, but it has risen it's ugly head again about 2-3 months ago. No hardware changes on my end.
When I ADS, sometimes I have to click multilple times before the weapon raises from a ready position. This isn't an issue with having the weapon down and having to double tap ctrl or double click the mouse. Other times, when I click to ADS, it won't ADS and so I click again, and then all of a sudden, it will ADS and then go back to a ready position, like there was a delay in sending/recieving the input. If these 2 issues don't happen, then whenever I right-click to ADS, there's like a half second delay in ADS'ing. Doesn't matter if I use an assault rifle or lmg, it's all the same. Now, when I clear a room, I ADS before entering the room, but then there is a delay in sending the first round down range. When I think I'll trade at the least, the other guy just walks away.
Is it just me, or has something changed in the last couple of months that would bring this on? Thanks.

To the people who are getting the 3FPS Bug, how much RAM have you got? Because i got it, yet i've only got 8GB of RAM. From what i've been told, it's possibly because of the page file / amount of RAM ArmA needs but can't get (Please no hate, it's only what i've been told)

CUP is really large. I bet ~20 GB. For me it doesn't matter if I play modded or vanilla to get the bug. I get it by travelling a lot. like being in a helicopter or a plane. cities also help lol.
Yah, between CUP and RHS you're pushing 30GB. I only know because we run them both as well - though we have CUP Units, too. We're just in the process of removing AFRF, SAF, and GREF from RHS (among some other lightly- or un-used mods). We're also trying to limit ourselves to the CUP and Icebreakr maps, as I see in your list. ๐
I'd just remove the CUP weapons and units and use RHS for that. but yeah, no one uses the serbians or whatever they are
CUP Weapons and Units might be something we look at trimming next. Going to do it in steps. We rarely see the 3fps bug... we more often see hard crashes of the game (but when Arsenal or Zeus is employed... which, we're supposing, has something to do with the number of "things" that have to load when that happens)
When I've seen a crash, the memory usage is right at the limit for 32 bit, which makes me assume it might be the same cause, but my game skips the warning stage of the 3fps bug and goes right to shitting itself. ๐

People just kind of think it is. And really, if someone who can play for 2 hours now before getting the effects of the mem leak can then play for six hours and not get it (even if the game is chewing up 15GB of memory), then it appears, from their frame of reference, that it's "fixed"

Going back to reducing the size of the mods. A typical squad night (of ours) lasts 6-7 hours with that modset, with no 3FPS bug. So, it seems to not to have any relation to the size of the modsets (or the duration). Though I have my own suspicions about tracked vehicles.

yeah, we had a situation that a fire team went into town and an apache was overwatching/backing us up. we, the fire team, all went down to 8 FPS because of all the action the server was throwing at us. meanwhile the chopper crew didn't suffer any fps drops. it is just really random somehow.

Last time the low frame bug happened to me (the game crashed seconds later) was while watching an explosion. On Esseker, let off an M183 next to an artillery unit. I remember seeing a pillar of smoke, then my teammates all doing the funky starfish half buried in the ground, then black screen.
borderless fullscreen has randomyl broken for me
my windows taskbar is now constantly over the game
this happened after I reinstalled the game from my HDD to my SSD

I remember having had the same problem with the windows taskbar overlapping (different) games as well every now and then. Restarting explorer.exe fixed it. Can't say that I experienced it in a long time now, though. Might have been fixed? Windows 10 works in mysterious ways sometimes.
How do you make an Xbox360 controller work with the friggin splended camera?

It does look like the server might be running mods (BWA3 and TRYK?) or at least using objects from them. But you're not getting a missing mod error.

Someone uses any of these glasses in their profile, but they are not available on the server.
It's an old bug. Happens with all mods that add glasses.
The game never checks if the mod for the assets written in profile is still present. And on servers, this pop up happens then for everyone.

For every unit there is
id=91;
If you tried to copy some units from another mission by editing the mission.sqm you might have some units that have the same id. In which case, the units are unplayable, as the client won't know what to do with 2 units with the same id (as the computer lacks decision making capabilities and control over the sitiuation when it is stricktly in it's hands.).
This can be tested by loading the mission as each of the players in the edtior (It won't let you play in the editor as well).

To begin with, we played Liberation: Altis. I've not played that particular combo before (not sure of the ver no. either). I started experimenting with different launcher settings (and noticed RPT spam from "Units" after I had unticked it). I changed a few visual settings as well. All in all, I'll need to go back to square one to properly test each combo.

Hi all, i have a dedicated server and i run zeus missions few times a week with a moddest mod line (ACE, TFR, Achilles, CBA other random small mods).
My issue is i get 100 000 desync for all players every now and then at random interval and duration, red chain all the way...then poof its gone and all good. Basicly like that, rinse and repeat through out the entire game .
Has anyone experienced this and do you maby have a solution or suggestion for my server issue...very agrivating

Hello there guys, I have a little problem which never appeared before. I'm playing with CBA_A3, USAF Mod, RHSAFRF, RHSUSAF, RHSGREF, RHSSAF, BWMod, Enhanced Soundscape, ACE3 and 3 Compatibility Mods. When now flying any helicopter with my Joystick (Logitech Extreme 3D Pro), the Thrust-Wheel forgets any settings and knows only On and Off. It's pretty much impossible to fly with that, any Ideas?

Has anyone else been having the 2fps bug? (In which your playing normally then your frames drop two somewhere between 1-3fps and all the resolution models swap to there lowest. Character models all sink into the ground (except for their vests) and you more or less have to restart your game)
Ive never had the issue without mods loaded but have heard of people who have, its been happening alot more the past few days, and I have tried a custom memory allocater as well as changing launcher params such as CPU settings and max GPU Ram

I think when people use <arma3root>@MyAddon\ dirs enabled from options -> expansions, they get written on profile? I remember seeing some mod info in my arma2 profiles years ago.
that -mod issue is quite new, I dont run arma3 without addons but few days ago I had to test something out and noticed the ghost addon dir. no idea on which version it broke.
or maybe its related to how the specific addon got there in the first place, that addon dir is farly new from december I think.
Be interesting to see once you go back to your normal -mod= line if the mystery one comes back as well.

back in 2015 I played arma3 bis campaigns through using the above bat file to start the game. since then I rarely used arma3 without addons. on december 2016 I created vte_dev dir and now few days ago when using no addons startup... the ghost dir was there. dunno at which point the cmd -mod broke like commy2 said, OR how did I manage to add the ghost dir somewhere in the first place.
I think when I was running buldozer and some other developing shizzle, I had no steam running and it popped up couple of times that cannot launch buldozer because steam is not on, will you allow the launch blabla. hmmm comes to think of it, wonder if frigging steam client added the -mod parameter ...

For the past couple of days I've been working at fixing a problem with arma where my HOTAS (joystick, throttle, and pedals) all vanished from the controllers menu, leaving only TrackIR. These controllers do work in other games and windows still recognizes them, and their binds are still present in the controls menu, but they don't actually work in arma alone. I've tried everything from reinstalling arma to deleting my Arma3Profile and still nothing works. Does anyone have any advice/solutions?

- Reboot your PC.
- Run Steam as Admin, download the game.
- Try to run Arma 3 (without mods).
This should fix your issue.

So chat issue still not working on our server, for some it works the majority doesn't, has been a problem since first cba update (a week ago). I have check infestar, description.ext. Okay so looked through both nothing screaming at me, the real problem is it's not persistent even for the same client, so they can log off come back on an hour later (without server restarting) and they can chat, it's like the button is stuck / flashes. The issue won't reproduce it's random which makes me think its a user issue, but then for it to affect the majority of players makes me think server. Have found no obvious way to recreate the error.

It's a bit difficult to find issues in the RPT log, because of all the animation errors in the vehicle models.
Chat doesn't work at the start of the mission for some players then will stop working and others the other way around, ye I can see that being an issue.
So sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't and it can change mid mission for no reason.

Yep, when people go to chat (press the hotkey) chat will flash and disappear meaning that they can't type. VOIP still works fine.

Afaik Infistar is obfuscated scripts. There have been some People that deobfuscated it at disconvered the Backdoors that basically gave the Infistar authors Admin-like access to any Server that uses Infistar.

Ye you'd think it say somewhere, that's been the most frustrating but because it's not persistent it's much harder to find the actual cause of the whole thing, what I'm going to do is downgrade cba to 3.1.2 see if the error is there, if it is I know it'll be a keyDown issue. If it downgrading doesn't fix the error then I'll go into the AH.sqf and search and make sure the RscDisplayChat is normal and I'll also try and clear some of the RPT errors, Thanks for all our help.
ArmA freezes for a good 20 seconds whenever I get in a vehicle on a multipalyer server. Anyone know why?

also start up vanilla a3 and trya to get in a car in the editor without any mods (if you use any)
and last thing: open your rpt file while this happens or remember the time and check the rpt file for clues
It's one server and no-one else has the issue

propably a common error, though can someone tell me how to fix smokegrenades? They emmit tiny amounts of smoke unless you change your zoom. Mods: cba, ace3, cup,shacktacui,jsrs,blastcore

is that something that changed with those mods? vanilla arma = beautiful smoke modded arma = tiny amount of smoke
yes. But ace has a optional particles PBO that makes the smoke a huge amount better. And Blastcore is also changing the Smoke. But none of these should make the smoke smaller than normal.
But check your graphics settings. If you have particles set to low you will get less particles == less smoke

Afaik your problem is caused by blastcore

Blastcore does some screwy things lately because of its (iirc) halted development

There is a new blastcore version that works quite fine. Check if you are using that and not the old Blastcore phoenix that is horribly outdated

Jsrs works fine for us with cup and ace. Also, yes, back in blastcore Phoenix we had to remove smoke pbo, but I haven't tried the new one. Luetin did a review on it, I think.

Nope, other than moving some optional pbos into addons folder . If you're playing on dedicated, there is a tiny bundle of files you can put on the server whose only purpose is to avoid some rpt spam.

So I may have some relevant information regarding this joystick issue. I sometimes disable my joysticks using USBDeview when I start games that handle them poorly (i.e. spinning around forever, any Unreal Engine game) because having to unplug them all the time is annoying. I think I started arma while these joysticks were disabled, and that could have contributed to them not appearing. However, they are now enabled, and I've restarted several times since then, and they haven't reappeared even though they work fine in other games. Anyone have any thoughts on that?
well, games detecting joysticks poorly, or thinking that ANY controller is standard X360-like XInput definately caused problems for me, too, not liking to unplug the stick every time I either had to just abandon these games or look for a way to disable them

I seem to be having a problem with the memory leak/3fps bug.
I didn't have a malloc enabled when it was happening and I enabled the tbb4malloc_bi one to no avail. I'm trying to play Altis Antistasi and after about 20 minutes the game will suddenly freeze for 5 seconds and then run at about 5 fps with broken, hexagon textures. I'm not sure what else to do, as the tbb4 malloc didn't work.
imo the best way is to take some load of the game like decreasing the view and draw distance. like at 2km. changing the memory allocators did not help me at all. I'll get the bug after like 3 hours intensive gameplay. 20 minutes sucks though.
@scarlet path I'm updating my drivers right now. I disabled the malloc since the few posts I found leaned towards that. I'll see if it stops after that.

Alright it seems to be working pretty well now - hopefully
But there another question, whenever I play Antistasi I host it on a LAN server for the respawn / mp mechanics of it. However, whenever I save and exit through the normal ARMA one and reload it, ACE medical seems to completely stop working for my character. I start to take vanilla damage instead of ACE damage and cannot treat myself at all. I'm forced to restart the mission and reload the persistent save when this happens to fix ACE medical.
try to reproduce with CBA and ACE only on a newly created mission without scripts and if it still happens, report it on the ACE githib.
It continues to work fine. I feel like it's just an issue of reinitilization, but I'm not sure how I would do that. I also seem to become incredibly resilient to damage when this happens, resilient like let a grenade explode in my hand and limp away from it or get sprayed down by an HMG and barely flinch resilient.

No, if it works fine with only CBA and ACE, then there is a bug with any of the other mods you are using.
There is no such thing as reinitialization. Arma already serializes and deserializes savegames, but bad scripting can always lead to bugs
And since no one bothers to debug savegames, a lot of mods and missions break it.
Making a scenario with all of the other mods loaded and exiting and relaunching has it work perfectly fine. I feel like this is something unavoidable, as it says on the site that ACE is not entirely implemented. Is there a way to disable ACE medical in a workshop scenario?
I found a post on the forums and it seems you're always supposed to restart so I believe I'm completely at fault here.

I imagine that the way it's coded. It has a default revive system but ACE medical overrides that. I guess 'restarting' the machine allows it to read the addons installed. Honestly I have no idea, but whatever works.

@oblique horizon FYI you always have a malloc enabled, the game can't allocate memory without it. tbb4malloc_bi is the default one (when you haven't specified any).

Usually the last units you grouped will be the last ones
But you can also edit your mission.sqm (make sure it's not binarized)
Changing the order here will change the order in role selection
I've never actually seen them sorted alphabetically
Well I thought that as well that the last unit is the last one - but this is not the case I've noticed
if you have TL and squad lead in a group with other units, team lead will always be last, even though all units are grouped to squad lead

When i create a limited virtual arsenal ammobox with select gear in Eden editor. I can still load previously saved loadouts that contains gear NOT in the limited arsenal i created. In the LOAD menu, even if its greyed out i can still select it and click load, and it will load that gear. It its allowing my players to just load anything they want as long as they have it saved previously. Is this a bug or its really meant to be like that?

Stumpted on an issue someone brought to me. Servers in the server browser are not loading for them they have disabled firewall on both their PC and router, reinstalled the game, reset their router with still no luck. If they go on a VPN servers load in the browser

Something that was causing me no end of annoyance with a completely different game (and I don't use the server browser in ArmA - only play on private servers), but might be an issue - check their router config to see if there is UDP flood protection. I had to turn mine off.
VPN would be tunneling right past any of the router protection, so it sounds like it's something on the router that might be causing the issue.
(In case they have a D-Link DSR-250N, it's in Advanced... Advanced Network... Attack Checks)

Can some1 explain this to me:
I created a mission, exported it and loaded it onto my unit's server.
If I connect my game closes with an access violation.
If I localy start the mission everything works fine.
If I disconnect from my local server and then connect to my unit's server everything is working as well.
ie What is he caching that prevents the access violation?
I wonder if something is locking the cur_mp (or mp_cur?) file
well only way to find out for sure is to run it without any scripts, but yeah, looks like an Arma LOD thing

Greetings to everybody! I have a trouble with multiplayer in ArmA3. It doesn't matter clear server, or modded - I connect to the server, load mission file, spawn, play for about 1 - 5 minutes, and then i getting kicked off the game. No more information. Some server admins told me that i have a "Signature check timed out". And one of the admins looked into server log file and said to me that server can't get my player ID (id='fffffffffffff'). I've tried a lot of decisions:
- file hash check VIA Steam;
- reinstall the ArmA3;
- shutdown antivirus software;
- shutdown firewall;
- launch with administrator options;
- reinstall Windows, then Steam, then ArmA3 again.
I haven't found any useful help topic in the internet. If anybody knows the solution, please, answer me.
