I had that same thing happen to me . I have a 1060 so it was weird. Arma 3 was selecting my iGPU has the default GPU . No idea why it did it that.

i deleted functions_f.pbo and verified installation via steam to force a redownload. but this still happens, no matter if i try to start a local server via launcher or ingame.

I'm fairly certain that's caused by a mission in the mpmissions directory of your server having an error. Just to confirm that it's one of the missions at fault, try moving everything out of the servers mpmission directory
@wise barn I believe when arma3server starts it looks at the description.ext of all the mission in mpmissions directory, and for some reason it can't find that file so your game crashes. Anytime you try and include a file that it "can't see" it crashes your game/server

and open the latest RPT file after you got kicked from the server with notepad. scroll through and you'll find the answer

Today I launched A3 tools as usual, then I tried to install bull dozer and I get an error code

Not sure what is going on, but it it halting me from working on my projects. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I did not change anything before this error occurred and I tried a reinstall but no luck.
Just had a look at the convo in #arma3_scripting As a throwback old habit, I perform a complete fresh install of my OS every 18 months. I have not experienced any of the issues you describe. It may or may not have any bearing on how tidy I keep my machine, but maybe it does.

As for OS's , for the last few iterations, I have used the 64bit version of Windows.
I'm not sure if this is the right place but I can't get the Barret m82 mod to work for the life of me, at least I can't get it to spawn in the virtual armory

When i start Arma 3 in full screen mode it uses my desktop resolution and not the resolution set in the game configuration., and mouse show wrong position. I need to Alt + TAB to go to desktop and then back to the game to make the screen change to the correct resolution.

Your link doesn't work. So you are trying to setup your P drive exclusively with Arma 3 Tools?
Try running buldozer configurator again, apply the configuration, and then go to project drive management and run install buldozer again

Try changing that to Default (Ultra)
And then apply the settings again and run install buldozer. Changing it to Default (Ultra) fixed buldozer for someone else

My tools are installed on my C drive, my main A3 installation is on my E drive, and my Work Drive folder is on my E drive
I just tried to run it from the buldozer.exe, and it launches, but it wont work in o2
how are you launching O2? Works best if you open steam, run the tools to mount the P:\ drive then open Object Builder by clicking a .p3d or a direct shortcut to the .exe. Rather than launching Object Builder through steam
Steam has to be running though in order for Buldozer to start
I reset my texture path to the P drive and not my A3 work file, and it works now

Are you being kicked for high ping or for other reasons?
@broken sail : u trolling? Connect to servers with low ping. If your ping goes up, check your settings on your computer. Use TCPOptimizer if you don't know how to set your gaming settings yourself. Don't share network with other people downloading pr0n or torrents. Last restort is to call your bandwidth provider and ask them to sort things out.
Last tip: don't use too much software to control your computers behaviours. Uninstall all HP software ๐

Any reason in-game, even editor. If I click shit and try to run, or drive faster, etc etc.. Steam overlay pops up? Not all the time, but some times. Have tried re-installing arma and re-installing windows
That usually happens after you've tabbed your game. The tab key gets sticky for some reason, and when running/driving with shift, Steam recognizes it as shift+tab.
Happens to me as well, in more games than Arma.
If that's not the cause, you might have some keyboard malfunction. Try changing the keybind for Steam overlay to something else.
Anyone can help me with port forwarding?
For a dedicated server or your own computer? If it's the latter then it can vary depending on your router, so it's best to google something like "your router model port forwarding"

Hey I have a mod question (not sure if this is the right place). My friend has downloaded mods from the Workshop, but everytime he tries to launch the game with them, it is stuck on "Waiting for Steam to update mods". Anyone had this problem before?
The universal answer is to verify game cache, then work from there

So, for the first time really, I've had a crash. Not a CTD kind of crash, but more of a "everything goes slow motion and the screen goes black" kind of crash. The first hint that something was amiss was when I exited a vehicle and it froze for a bit. This was followed by LEGO lod on the nearby vehicle, then slow motion then unrecoverable black screen.
Vanilla A3 (no mods)
No memory allocators
No perf binaries
Happened after 4 hours of gameplay.
CPU /GPU temps all within normal limits.
TS and A3/Steam were the only programs running. (No background processes like Google/Spotify running either).
I got no crash report because the program was still running, just unresponsive.
Think it may be time to try one of Dwardens Perf Binaries...

It sounds like the game may have dumped everything from VRAM. By slow motion, what you do mean? Did game time slow down or did your framerate drop?

Tbh, it could always be the new Windows 10 Anniversary update causing the issues as well.

Make a backup of your Arma 3 folder in Documents and then delete the original. IIRC it is something in the game config that messes it up.

If it gives an error where you're missing a file, you're probably missing a mod/part of a mod that is loaded on the server. Check what mods the server has loaded then download and install them.

Are you running vanilla Arma or are you running mods? Also, does this happen when running official Missions or usermade? The first word that pops into mind when I hear Access Violation is Exile...

Last time i did install GeForce exp it introduced system insatiably and that was on 8.1 but im not going to try it out on 10 now because i only got the restore disc from lenovo and thats on 8.1 and i wont be able to get windows 10 again

how so? If you upgraded while it was offered free, you just reinstall windows 10 and it will activate autmatically no need for any keys or anything

there is a driver for your GPU its not in legacy not even close
note that newer drivers arent always better, with laptops its generaly recomended to stick to OEM drivers if you dont have issues

RC is out you can download the 1.64 RC branch off of steam and test it.
Also its not your driver, it can be number of things as I said previously. Most cases its small or even 0 page file. It happens a lot because of SSDs and some programs that come with it turn off you page file completely to extend SSDs life span. That might work for daily office needs but for gaming you would still need that page file in at least 1.5x size of you installed RAM.

You might need to take a look at the .log files & inform yourself about BE and its Filters, if you run your own server. Might be strange in the beginning, but later one pretty helpful. +also helps in the future, when it comes to a more secure server.

As I don't play BR, I can't comment on whether or not CUP_Weapons are included with it, but if it does not, I'd suggest updating it.
Some CUP weapons are included into BR. You could try reinstalling the mod, or verifying the integrity of Arma 3 on steam, which also checks the integrity of workshop mods after it checks Arma 3.

it allocates, but it doesn't deallocate
because i've never seen the memory decrease in usage

and if I understand this "2 fps bug" correctly, I think I had it too; framerate would drop drastically until total lock-up. I fixed mine by increasing size of swap file PLUS adding an additional swap file on 2nd hard drive
hold left shift and hit minus on numpad then type flush
...or at least, after I did that, the problem stopped happening

often when i do that, the game crashes
it's been a while.. i recall i could tab in and out SOMEtimes, but shortly after, the game would crash
it would often lock up my whole system as well and I'd have to force restart

doubt the swapfile is going to do anything though. i have 24gb of ram and 4gb swap. in virtual memory that makes 28gb. still, arma can only adress like 3,5gb of that

as I say, I'm not sure what eventually fixed the problem, but adjusting swap file was the last thing I tried before the problem went away. Before that I had tried reinstalling, changing OS from Win 10 64 to win 10 32, Win 7 32, win 7 64, nothing worked -- then i went back to win 10 and adjusted the swap file and the problem stopped

it shouldn't be that. the game should be killed by windows if it's trying to get wonky and adress space outside it's bit limitation
obviously the game has some memory full mitigation stuff otherwise it wouldn't do the graphics degrade. but i think there is a problem with returning free memory to the stack
I suppose I could try to reproduce bug by going back to my original swap file configuration... i'm afraid to somehow re-introduce the bug into my system though!

green button means they're online. most of the people are likely in all channels except the ones they've muted

also got finally enough motivation to set-up the tools again. it was somehow very fucked up, I needed to delete the whole tools folder manually and naturally backup stuff from there

if you recently updated any drivers try to rollback it may be faulty but in general follow what it says there
also delete all missions you have in Documents\Arma 3\ some might be causing issues

earlier today my friends and i were playing one of the arma 3 dynamic recon missions (front page of workshop, i was hosting), everything normal, then i restarted my game and now we can't see ourselves on the map, can't see shift-markers, can't go third person. i've changed scenarios a few times and even the ones that let us before aren't letting us do those things now

from what I understand they're spawned from the centre of the vehicle and either fire in the direction of the turret or the hull (depending in the 3rd parameter I quoted above) and spread out through the arc defined by the 4th parameter

also maybe make sure you don't have autocenter=1 set in the named propeties
since that can create some funny behaviour on vehicles, even though the opposite happens when you don't include it on weapons

back when I bought my GTX 970, the next drivers after I had installed caused horrible fps, BSOD and overall instability. after that I never trust to download new drivers until I'm very sure they actually work

You should list all programs and overlays you've running if there's some program causing conflict.
You should also try underclock the 970. It likely has some factor overclocking and the hardware doesn't work right.
That would mean the 970 itself has some issues then if underclocking works. You can try to RMA it then.

You keep getting generic error which is tied to memory in a way. I told you before to try to play without mods on official server and see what happens.
As I have seen above you have reverted the gpu driver back which is good, so now we know its not the driver causing this.

Hey guys, not sure if this is the right place, but hey. We've just put up a new map for our exile server, but for some reason every time we load a player in, theyre on debug island. We've got many experienced people in our community, we've put out several maps over several years and never had this issue, we've tried everything, disconnected the database, restructured files, everything. Any ideas? I realise I havent provided much evidence to go on, but thats because their really isnt any...

@ripe plank get a good editor for SQFs, like POSEIDON (armaholic has it)
then select "find in files" select your whole mission folder, and search for "fn_preInit.sqf"
you will likely find a like which says "execVM" or "include" and then this script name
look if the path is correct, in case of linux server make sure upper/lower case is identical.
and of course you should actually check if these files exist in the folders your server is looking for them

I'm not very educated in the topic, but i unpack pbos with pbo manager, and i re-pack my missions with the export function of eden. the resulting pbos work fine and i had zero issues. this might not be the most efficient workflow .....

and because profiling branch is multiplayer compatible with main branch (usually) then you have choice ๐ wait for next stable or try , in worst case you will produce some nice crashes for us to fix ๐

@tiny imp i finished a 3+ hour game of not getting the 3 fps thing now. i don't know if it was luck or my changing of a setting. i switched output and input quality in windows to 44100hz (cd quality) and then i neither got crash nor 3 fps issue
i'm running on stable channel
before i had dvd quality which i believe is 48000hz or so
albeit i did have frame degradation, but that's probably some minor memleak

Hey all, I play events with a group and today our server had hard desync after an hour of play (so much so that we all hard froze and had to do a server restart). Following the restart we managed a further 30 minutes of play to meet the same issue. This happened last tuesday aswell but we put it down to the mission/template we used (Which doesnt look to be the case). I've checked the server logs and we have network XXXX is pending being spammed. I've done some googling but many of the same issues still remain open and i'm not very good with servers and how arma works server related so thought i'd ask here and hope that someone knows of a fix or can help me with creating a set procedure to tackle this. Especially since its not something that happens if a few of us play on the server only when we have our events making it hard to replicate40 people tonight - below is a sample from the logs : Server: Network message 22e61 is pending

Check from the Event Viewer what it says when the screen goes black. I've to say that you need to put some effort to solve the issue and make the ticket in the feedback tracker. Remember to mention everything you already have done try to fix the issue.

maybe try this memtest tool to check your ram for errors.
well this tool is widely used by overclockers to determine if the gpu is still working properly after overclocking it
it should definately not break your gpu.
it merely utilizes all the calculation ressources your gpu has

@fringe salmon there was something on about using the high burn in test and not using it
Furmark is more of a heat test but can be dangerous if left too long and there are no games that will stress the gpu in that way, furmark doesn't test for instability or artifacting but in a sense if it fails then that means it was unstable.
OCCT is good because you can walk away from it and it will count the artifacts for you. Valley/3dMark you have to sit there and watch it loop, after twenty minutes or so I cant tell if its lights flickering, or artifacts I am staring at.
both the 970 gpu and furmark are widely popular, i haven't heard of any problems so far. having something more advanced counting artifacts would be good.
but i was more looking to have furmark (or more) crash due to faulty GPU or driver maybe.
since he's coming here for over a week now with the same unsolved problem taking a look at some hardware testing might be in order.

In order, i would say:
1: clean driver install. Use any driver remover tool to strip everything regarding drivers.
2: Uninstall any overclocking software like MSI afterburner, clean it.
3: Clean install. Get the latest signed driver.
3a: if you run multi monitor, just run one for testing purposes.
4: Install a testing programme. I.e Futuremark, OCCT, etc. No furmark.
5: When in doubt, get a card to borrow to see if it's system issues (i.e PSU failures on the 12A rail).
6: If 5 works, your system/board is fine, it it isn't, check the PSU first,
6a: If your card does the same in a different setup, the card is faulty.
@cursive vessel so far the RPT files he posted had access code violations that i googled, and i found that in the past there has been a malloc problem with similar errors, so i told him to try a different malloc (since, simply put, one can do that)
i haven't seen anything specifically pointing to a gpu problem yet
i posted the interesting part of that RPT he once send me a bit up in this channel.

I am having a problem with Zeus:
When Zeus is a JIP player or if you crash and have to reconnect etc. sometimes (most of the time) zeus module did not work anymore and you could not access the zeus mode
This basically renders my unit unable to continue playing a zeus mission effectively. once zeus has to reconnect for some reason
I have heard that there is a fix, can someone assist?

@latent obsidian No I don't. Im still trouble shooting. Its only affecting wheeled vehicles too, tanks, boats, and air is fine. Very strange

Hello I have downloaded the new patch/update which is 5.6gb's about 28 times and counting, via Steam. At the end of it downloading 5.6gb's it comes up with Update Cancelled however I haven't cancelled it at all. I've restarted my computer, defragged, verified files, uninstalled game, reinstalled, reverified, and several other things to no avail. Can someone please assist me. Thanks
Do you have plenty of disk space? Probably wouldn't hurt to try running steam as admin as well
I've got 22gb spare on my SSD and an additional drive with 1tb of space free.

I downloaded the new update and now whenever I launch the game the launcher doesn't open, instead it runs in the background as seen in task manager. I've restarted steam and my PC and still can't get it to run. Any help?

How are you trying to start Arma?
Through steam, although the problem is still there if i luanch the launcher through its .exe
I can run arma by directly running Arma3.exe but anything connected to the launcher wont open
- it opens in the background

Maybe someone can help shed some light on this issue we are experiencing. Okay, here goes: Essentially MP server "freezes" for a second whenever an AI unit is killed. It is almost like a frame stutter, but everyone in the server can "feel" whenever things are dying. Anyone have any idea on what could cause this?
Perhaps some intensive scripts being run from killed event handlers.
I ran an RPT on the server and tested with people... if that is of some help. Maybe someone else can interpret it better than I can.. outside of the usual mountain of no Entry errors, it looks pretty normal to me

@rich yoke How would we even tell what scripts could be running on killed event handlers?
What kind of mission do you run? Some would be easier than others to look through for what event handlers are being used
ACE3 & ALiVE COOP missions with main server and 5 headless clients
never had an issue before, started about a week ago
Could it have started after the recent ACE update?
It could be, although I have pretty much removed all the new stuff they added looking for an issue
Yeah it's tough to say, but I'm off to bed. Hopefully someone will come along with some more ideas, and it wouldn't hurt to try and strip it down pretty barebones to see if you can narrow it down to just being an issue with ACE, ALiVE, or something else. Then you could report it to them with an example scenario to make their life easier. That may be hard to do though if it only happens with a populated server.

@fringe salmon yeah, did you do a clean driver sweep to rule out any software issues, and then if gpu is still funky, do a swap with a spare?
Hey. Im having an issue with a package I put together, at current its two items, a mine and a grenade, made the grenade first, bunged it in and I found I couldnt see it in the bottom right ammo counter (the same way grenades sometimes glitch), this then ultimately fixed itself without my changing anything, but when I updated the package to add the landmine, the same problem occurs for the grenade, is there anything I can do about it? is it a known bug or what?
