looks like an issue with the font. the author would have to fix that style

though IIRC the version on the webapp is also a little bit outdated currently. you could try downloading the current version from ctan and uploading those files to your project

you can get it from https://ctan.org/pkg/newcomputermodern
via "Home page" (download.gnu.org) > new-cm-8.0.1.txz (or whatever the newest version is in the future). inside the archive there should be a otf or ttf folder with the actual font files; just drag those into your project

So... do I have to drag and drop these font files every single time I start a new project? Is there any way to install them permanently so I don't have to re-upload them every time?

sadly that's not yet possible. Hopefully the version that's bundled will be updated soon so you don't need to do anything anymore

Fonts update more often than one might expect, so it's not easy to keep up unfortunately 😅

Also your browser caches the files for a while which can be a headache but is necessary
