Nous subscription login and Nous API-key usage are separate paths.
If Hermes is only showing the Nous Research subscription option, that is the subscription/OAuth route. That uses your Nous account subscription access.
Using a Nous API key is different: API usage is billed/credited separately from the subscription. So if you are trying to use free models through a Nous API key without API credits, that will not behave the same as subscription access.
If you specifically want API-key routing, configure/select the provider that matches the key you want to use, then set that provider’s key in Hermes. For Nous API-key usage, make sure your Nous account has API credits available, not only an active subscription.
If the model menu is not showing any API-key/provider option at all, please send:
hermes debug share
and a screenshot of the model menu where it only shows the subscription option. That will tell us whether this is a menu/config issue or just the expected separation between subscription access and API-key billing.
