@dense lintel I ran update Hermes again and the double message is resolved. There was a different issue which Hermes looked into because the gateway was crashing and no replies were being received on telegram.
I'm not home yet but here's the result.

The double-message part is probably a separate issue from the Telegram/gateway crash, especially since that piece went away after updating.
For the Telegram no-reply / crash side, there still is not enough in this thread yet to pin it to a specific code path. We need the actual crash evidence from the updated build, not just the screenshot.
Please send one of these from the machine after it happens again:
/debugfrom the affected session- or
hermes debug sharefrom the main console if the gateway is stuck
And please include:
- the Hermes version after the update
- the
gateway.loglines right around the crash/restart - whether the gateway is running under systemd or manually in a shell
At this point I would treat the fixed double-message bug and the remaining Telegram/gateway failure as two different issues unless the fresh logs show otherwise.
