#Adding an Event-Exclusive ship is needless FOMO

Events have always been a good way for players to catch up by obtaining tokens for weapons, battle marks for ships, etc. Alternatively, if a player was in no urgent need of these things, he could aim for unique cosmetics. Once the event ended, or if you missed the event entirely, you could still grind things like battle marks and pirate tokens in the base game; you’d only be missing out on some cosmetic options that didn’t effect gameplay.

Adding an entire ship that is exclusive to the event is, in my opinion, a bad move. It will discourage all players from grinding for other items until they’ve obtained the ship due to FOMO.

In addition, the fact that this event focuses around Amber, which forces PVP, means that the more established players who already have strong ships and groups of buddies to help them will be able to more easily grind for the new ship. Rather than the event being an opportunity for people to catch up and even the playing field by earning a lot of battle marks or coins to buy new ships of their choosing, this event sounds like it will be an aggressive dash to the exclusive ship which will no doubt be powerful to justify the grind.

In my opinion, the new ship should not be exclusive to the event.

I agree with you. We’ll have to wait for details about how to get it during the event but they can always make it available for BMs after the event

Congratulations, you just noticed the core monetization mechanic in basically all free to play games - FOMO.

Adding event-exclusive stuff that is either extremely hard to get by f2p grind or outright impossible makes people spend money, which in turn keeps the game alive.

Any game that is free to play I can think of has this monetization system, with mobile games pushing it to the extreme, as there will be a power jump at some point that is basically impossible to make free to play.

I’m fine with fomo for things like cosmetics that don’t severely affect gameplay, like we’ve had for the previous two events. My objection is that now it’s a ship and, unlike the cosmetics, this ship has been explicitly stated such that it “can only be obtained during the festival.” If that changes later and we can buy it a year from now, fine, but I’m putting it out there that I (and I’m sure many others) are opposed to strict fomo on things like ships.

The ship is subpar as a fast line and paying roughly 27million gold for a fast line ship is absurd

Have they released stats for it? I haven’t seen them yet I’m just opposed on principle.

So at first glance, a slightly-better Ingermanland

Oh it’s rank III nvm

less hp than poltava 2 more guns in total than poltava

Faster though so definitely worth getting as an interceptor

same speed, 3 more manueverability

#

its like a 2% upgrade over poltava.

(Faster in acceleration/maneuver, I mean, due to lower tonnage)

Being more mobile means the Leopard is a bit more specialized for the role which makes it more useful imo

I don't think the 2-5% difference is going to be worth an upscale price of like 2500%

#

better for players to just spend for the 20k battle marks and buy the 4 new ships coming when battle mark prices are released

I just hope they don’t keep it event exclusive. What really sucks about this is that I feel like I need to grind for the ship since it’s going away whereas I can farm battle marks at my own pace

#

So instead of being a good opportunity to catch up on battle marks, I’m going to be looking at getting a mediocre ship because it’s stronger than the Poltava in the meta. Not by much, but enough to matter in PVP

I feel like shit for hyping my members up about a new event that can help them loads, now i just have a bunch of people on the verge to getting kicked from guild.

Yeah having an event exclusive ship and putting it in an event centered around PVP right after they just boosted the penalties for sinking people is a bad move, imo.

The actual bad move is flaggin people PvP against their will for picking up those Amber chests. That is just horribly bad event design

candid finch
#

Well yes I’m saying that’s one of multiple bad factors combining into a mess

What does the ship even cost?
Haven't yet have time to log in since the event went live

I believe Bucket did the conversion to gold and it comes out to something ridiculous like 26 million
