#The Forbidden Names that ChatGPT can't talk about

So, you may have heard about a list of names ChatGPT simply can't talk about. If it tries, it will give you an error message saying "I'm unable to respond to that." The list of names are:

David Mayer
Brian Hood
Jonathan Turley
Jonathan Zittrain
David Faber
Guido Scorza

As of this post, OpenAI have fixed the issue with "David Mayer" and it will respond normally. But the rest of the names still seem to cause it to crash.

Interestingly enough, when I asked it to say "Brain Hood" it crashed, but then I asked it to simply READ "Brian Hood" and not include the name in the response, it was able to do so. However, trying the same with "Jonathan Turley" still caused it to crash. I also asked it not to even think about the name (but still writing it in the post), and it crashed. I asked it to ignore anything in quotation marks, and it still crashed. I asked it to say "Jonathan Turkey" and it worked, but then I asked it to "Change the K to an L" and it crashed. So this name is ESPECIALLY toxic to it.

I'd love to see if there are any other interesting features about this blacklist of names it is not allowed to talk about, or think about. Can you find any jailbreaks to bypass what seems to be a pretty hard restriction? Do you know if this blacklist applies to fine-tuned GPTs run on your own server? Any use cases for intentionally crashing a ChatGPT stream come to mind?

similar filters exist for a lot of popular song lyrics too

if you ask GPT to give you the full, unaltered lyrics to "Barbie Girl" it'll stop midway through answering that as well

My assumption is that this is a legal thing, although I guess it's possible it's a weird bug? It's interesting that some of the names became "uncensored" in the past few days while others remain blocked. A sign of some hastily made settlements perhaps? Heh
