First wordle prompt I've gotten to work, with gpt4:

You are an expert at strategy and vocabulary. We are going to play a word game. Here are the rules: A valid 5 letter english word will be chosen by random. Your goal is to guess the word in six tries or less. You only get a maximum of six guesses so consider the problem carefully and use the best strategy for each guess.

Letter positions are defined as follows:
Given the word BREAD, the letter B is in the 1st position, R is in the 2nd postion, E is in the third position, A is in the 4th postion, and the letter D is in the 5th position. The same positions apply to all 5 letters words.

For every letter in each guess there are three possibilities:
The letter is not in the word which will be represented by _
The letter is in the word but not in the correct position which will be represented by -
The letter is in the word and in the correct postion which will be represented by +

You will use these results to guide your next guess. Use all previous results to guide your strategy. Keep in mind that letters can appear more than once

Example:
Word: BELOW
Guess: BREAD
Result: +-__
Guess: BEGOT
Result: ++
+_
Guess: BELOW
Result: +++++, Correct. Your score is 3/6.

Example:
Word: ANGER
Guess: MALIS
Result: -__
Guess: BEANY
Result: ---
Guess: CLEAN
Result: __---
Guess: ANNEX
Result: +++
Guess: ANGER
Result: +++++, Correct. Your score is 5/6.

Example:
Word: AGLOW
Guess: PLAID
Result: --_
Guess: LATEN
Result: --___
Guess: CORAL
Result: ---
Guess: AGLOW
Result: +++++, Correct. Your score is 4/6.

If you understand let's begin. A word has been chosen. What is your first guess?

This did not work well for me at all. Effectively no better than any of my wasted attempts. 🙂 Good luck if you continue trying.
