I’m researching prize nominees and frequently use Deep Research for comprehensive searching, but I often need to go back and have Perplexity remind me of previous findings, reassess lists after I’ve ruled out candidates, or quickly reference earlier results without triggering a new deep research session. I know how to switch between the modes using the icons, but I’m wondering if using regular search for these simpler re-summarizations and reminders helps keep the thread lighter and extends its lifespan, or if I’m overthinking it and should just use Deep Research for everything since the thread maintains the same context regardless of which search mode I use.

Hello, recent enterprise pro subscriber. Generate a space to review a number of .pdf files and extract specific time based data points from content. Preplexity says that it created a .csv file and it present a sample. I asks if I want a complete file I say yes. It says its available but nowhere can I find it or access it. I see some responses have Asset breadcrumbs but if I follow the only the samples are in there. Any insight is welcomed.... PS ... I have spent over an hour on try various things to resolve this .... tools are great for productivity no doubt, but the slowdown from this is frustrating. Also, using normal mode, not labs mode ...

Hi, are there any "hidden limits"? Yesterday, I tried prompting it to analyze about 50 sources, and Comet was actually doing it. But a few hours later, when I retried the same prompt, it lied: it didn’t access the sources and just made things up, claiming it had checked them. I tried again today, and it’s still inventing answers. I understand there might be limitations when I request a lot of sources, but it would be better to get a message explaining the limit, instead of Perplexity simply not exploring any sources. Also, it would help to know if the Max plan could solve this, and how many searches it allows.

There is a separate section to upload files within a space that remains persistent across all queries. You might be uploading on the prompt window, but that is not the right place.

Custom Bulk Solution: Reach out to Perplexity support ([e-mail]) explaining the event use-case. They might provide promo codes or a direct way to gift Max. Since the event is close, this step is urgent.

Last-Resort Option: Create Max accounts yourself and temporarily share access. (This is less clean and could raise account-sharing issues, so only use if absolutely necessary.)

3. Recommended Flow for the Event:

Pre-purchase Pro gift subscriptions.

Convert the redemption codes into QR codes (or print them on cards).

Distribute them live at the event so recipients can redeem instantly.

Since the event branding is tied directly to COMET (Max), gifting Pro won’t be suitable. Unfortunately, Perplexity doesn’t currently provide a direct way to buy Max and distribute it via promo codes, QR codes, or email gifting like they do with Pro.

I’m encountering a blocking issue with the PerplexityHelperInstaller_0.0.19.pkg while trying to set up Perplexity MCP on my Mac (macOS 13.7.7, Ventura).
During installation, the process always fails with an error related to a missing file:

What I tried:

• Manually created the directory and .plist file (using touch and also a minimal valid plist XML).
• Confirmed file ownership and permissions.
• Repeated the installation multiple times, both from Finder and using the terminal with sudo installer.
• The installer fails at the postinstall script, always reporting this error (from /var/log/install.log):

./postinstall: sed: /Users/mahy/Library/LaunchAgents/ai.perplexity.xpc.plist: No such file or directory
./postinstall: Error: XPC service plist not found at /Users/mahy/Library/LaunchAgents/ai.perplexity.xpc.plist

Even after creating the .plist file, it seems to disappear or get deleted during install, or the script doesn’t correctly recreate it.

I’ve attached a screenshot of the failure dialogue and can supply the full installation log if needed.

Find the scheduled task you want to stop.

Click on the task to open its detail modal.

Within the modal, choose to Edit, Pause, or Delete the task entirely.

Deleting the task is the surest way to stop it permanently.

Note:-Pausing can halt emails temporarily, allowing you to restart later if needed.

Two questions among the myriad I have:

Q1: May I refer to another conversation in a prompt? Or do I need to somehow export the source conversation (as PDF, Markdown, etc.) and then import it into the destination conversation?

Q2: Are there tricks to convince Perplexity to search in more than 20 sites? I didn't see that mentioned in the docs, but there seems to be a soft limit at 20 web pages, and Perplexity rarely goes beyond that. It is especially annoying, notably when querying from a list of 30-50 things, and Perplexity seems only to consider the first 20 items ☹

The issue is the following:
When trying to use Perplexity Assistant to complete routine tasks that I have asked Assistant to save the exact instructions to in a previous chat - to be recalled in the current chat - Perplexity doesn't recall those instructions form the previous chat.
For example, I am asking Perplexity to complete a task for me for work that it had completed previously; the instructions to complete this task were saved in a previous chat conversation - however, I am trying to utilize a new chat conversation to recall those instructions from the previous chat conversation so that Assistant can complete the task - using a clean chat since the other chat contains irrelevant data.

How can I ensure this works for me? Anyone have issues with this?

As far as I know, the context to the model will be limited to the current chat, when you say previous chat, it will be a seperate chat for the model technically.
(Anyone please correct me if I am wrong)

As a workaround, you can try pasting the link to previous chat as context in the current chat, as Pplx is generating unique universal urls for the chats.

The deeper I go into using AI daily, the more I notice one thing ⬇️

We’re all juggling a messy mix of prompts, contexts, personas, and system instructions across dozens of tools and models.

I’m really curious:

• How do you personally keep track of your AI assets? (prompts, contexts, personas, etc.)
• Do you have a system for testing across different models?
• What’s your way of sharing or collaborating on AI assets with teammates or peers?

From what I’ve seen, people are often:

• Copy-pasting prompts from Notion/Excel/(or worse, “.txt” files) into ChatGPT, Claude, agents, etc.
• Maintaining giant prompt spreadsheets
• Treating everything as just “prompts,” which blurs the difference between persona, context, and system prompt (when that separation really matters)
• Dropping snippets into Slack/Discord that quickly get lost

…it really feels like everyone is inventing their own “AI Assets system”

Manages the models context, and giving it examples of how the output should be formatted and other things like that. Which improves the models performance.

Since I use Diff files instead of generating the whole file on each request.

Saves on output tokens, and makes it feel quicker too.

In this example, the output is longer than just generating the whole file, but for most code bases, where you can have a file with hundreds of lines, this ends up saving a lot of output tokens, while also being quicker to generate. You can also save the diff files, and easily undo all the changes you made.

You have probably seen diff files in github etc, when seeing changes that were made. They are just shown with a cleaner UI. @worthy echo

Yep, it's also cheaper to do stuff that GPT-Pro etc does, where they run the same prompt multiple times to pick the best version. Since the request context would be cached.

And if you want to add more, you can add a vector DB with the docs for the libraries your project is using. So that if the model is working on a part that needs that library, it automatically gets it added to the context of the prompt.

In my case, I have given tools to the model so it can get the docs itself. But I also have a pipeline so the first thing it does is it checks it has docs on what it's trying to do. Before giving me code outputs. That way, the code generated should not be deprecated. Especially with JS libraries which have updates so often.

Even the diff files are being applied to the files using a tool too. So the model can generate multiple diff files in the same request, to edit many different files.

I am integrating the Perplexity API into my app built on Lovable, with a Supabase edge function involved.
Despite having an active Perplexity Pro account with sufficient credits, all API requests using my API key return a 401 Unauthorized error.
Here is what I have done so far to troubleshoot:
Regenerated the API key multiple times and copied it directly from the Perplexity dashboard.
Used Postman to test the API key independently from Lovable and Supabase, sending requests to https://api.perplexity.ai/v1/models with the Authorization header set as Bearer <API_KEY>.
Verified that the API key is correctly formatted, active, and associated with my Pro plan.
Confirmed that the Lovable app passes the key in the expected format to the edge function.
Ensured all requests use the proper endpoint and HTTP method.

Despite these steps, every call returns a 401 error, indicating an authentication issue. The error response body is a standard 401 Unauthorized HTML page.
I suspect there may be an internal account, key permission, or service configuration issue preventing successful API authentication.
Could you please investigate whether my API key and account have any restrictions or issues? I would greatly appreciate guidance on resolving this authentication failure.

How are you guys dealing with chat lenght and starting new chats for a lenghty project? When my chat gets too long I ask perplexity to make a summary of the whole chat according to a specified format, which I then load into a new chat to continue where I left off. I tried working with prompt markers where I specifically request perplexity to remember certain aspects in a chat in order to register that in the summary at the end, but I've noticed this doesnt work very well in long chats. i am having the same issue. I arrived at Comet when I signed up for the perplexity 1 month trial and won the invitation to Comet. I used normally for 1 month. Then I decided to create a new perplexity account (with a new email) and bought the plan 1 year pro plan. I just logged out at the previous email em logged in on comet with the new pro account and this message appears every day (You've reached your daily limit for Comet Personal Search. Upgrade to Max to increase your limit.). In first use of Comet without even having used it earlier. Even the agent does not work anymore.
If I log in with the previous perplexity account (my previous pro) the agent starts working again.
