I have heard a lot about Perplexity but have never used it before. What got me interested is that ChatGPT nowadays is so slow I must wait up to 5 minutes for the prompt to be finished; I think this one is going to be the Achilles' heal if there will not be any actions taken to solve this "speed" issue, that's why I got to try this Perpexlity thing,

What I learned after using it one day is that (I used Claude's version) it's like browsing the web, and I found many links I will never find on Google (maybe), so it's mostly for summarizing links and getting ideas (which can be complementary to use with ChatGPT).

So, I see the following strategy:

Do a quick research on the interested questions with Perplexity, get prompts as ideas, and copy and paste this prompt in ChatGPT for more "in-context" work. Let's see how it will work out. Wish me the best of luck.

cto for ... a while i suppose i'd say ... but still a child at heart. llm renoissance keeps me up all night innovating as I feel like we're right on the verge ... weeks ... months maybe ... but close to a real tipping point from interesting to revolutionary. RAG is hard ... hard to teach an ai agent to code well in gradle 8.5 with breaking changes if he's never seen the api ... knowledge bases and fine tunings amazing ... but search is the key to close that gap.

i love perplexity and have since i first used it 3? months ago ... the UI is elite and simple ... felt like an omage to google way back in the beginning - clean -- but also modern choices in taste and delivery. then i saw that you were working on actually solving cited data ... which was literally the challenge i was hallucinating over at that time ... now here you are with exactly the answer to RAG with search ... and with all the models in my current toy chest. To me this part is very hard to get right and I'm happy to pay API tolls for what this will add to accuracy. Now that you're well into solving those incredibly challenges, what's up next on the roadmap. I feel that whatever is my next obstacle ... will discover you're mixin' up the medicine in the lab. thank you. amazing work to the team that worked on this and the community as well.

Wow! Been in Tech since 1978 when I programmed in BASIC on TRS 80 Model 1 (wasn't called Model 1 in those days!). Been through life with Google becoming as ubiquitous as Klennex and don't like it. Used Bing, don't like it, way too many ads, most recently been using Duck Duck Go. I read in WSJ great article about Bezos joining board (woho!) and thought me, this isn't just another old startup. Challenged myself with, OK, every time my brain things "Google" this, I'm going to use Perplexity. Oh my word!!! Incredible....

Biggest challenge so far to not completely replace Google is mapping. I asked Perplexity how to get to work from home, and it gave me a great response on things to do in planning, etc., what I would have expected is something like...

ChatGPT sucked big time, even back then when people were hyping it. I switched really quickly to Perplexity and it's making my working life so much easier. Thanks . I have actually managed to sort the issue by setting up a new account using the same email address to the one I received the voucher on and this time it has applied the Pro account. I deleted the first one I set up, which I used the "sign in with google" option, which is the same email address. Maybe that caused the issues. I deleted that account and when I set up the second time I went in with the "use email" option. Anyway, it all seems to be sorted, so Happy Days!

the R1 is using perplexity as a partner for the LLM engine, so they gave a 200$ voucher (equivalent to 1 year of perplexity pro) to people who preordered. It was really good, it's the same value of the cost of the device so it double the value for price of the pre order. Also it helps to get comfortable with the specific model. Once the R1 is delivered it will have perplexity model installed inside for free so I'll be comfortable to decide to close the pro account at the end of the yer, or keep paying it to have a similar experience in all my devices.

I had tried perplexity in the beginning and stopped when copilot came out. I started using it again and it's mind-boggling how much faster and cleaner it is compared to phind and copilot.

Hi, I just joined in order to learn how to use AI in my daily work. Nice to meet you! Today more by coincidence I got a photo created by Perplexity while analysing an article about eccentricity faults of electric machines : I think there is room for improvement ;-). Quick intro, signed up an a plan to Perplexity, between this, Chat GPT and CoPilot I am mostly covered on my AI fix! I enjoy the daily articles that are sent out, now I've updated my profile I hope they will include more relevant info whislt still including good items of interest to expand my knoweldge. Never enjoyed Discord as a platform, so forcing myself to get to grips with it. Hopefully that won't take too long, it's just so messy and busy. I don't have time to keep scrolling timelines to see posts, makes following convos slightly more difficult than a traditonal forum (showing my age a bit, perhaps) but I shall presevere.
