@signal thunder Let's continue in here so that we can keep messages grouped πŸ™‚

#

Server crashes after a little while when he joins it.

  1. Have verified steam_appid.txt is correct.
  2. verified 0.0.0.0 in json
  3. have made a backup of his /savegame and json
  4. Reinstalled - doesn't appear to happen until he tries again with his backed up save game

@signal thunder Please upload your server save here

Hmmm. Not sure if it's the save. I started a server on this machine and was able to load your game and teleport to all your flames and kill monsters and such.

#

does the server console report this or does your client machine report this?

signal thunder
#

Server console.

#

However it does NOT make it to the server log.

#

This is server log:

[I 00:02:51,762] Scene entity wasn't attached, removing AttachToSurface component : Prop_Scavenger_Camp_Deco_Brazier_02_b

This is console:

No clue. But it's working on mine. When you reinstalled it, did you use steamcmd manually, meaning entering each line or did you a single line that has all command parameters?

#

also, is steamcmd installed in the same folder as your server?

signal thunder
#

Same list of commands I use to update:

login anonymous
app_update 2278520 validate```
#

Steamcmd is in C:\SteamCMD
Server is in C:\SteamCMD\enshrouded_server

#

Should I try reinstalling SteamCMD since that seems to be the source of the messages?

blazing raptor
#

perhaps. i'm trying your setup, installing enshrouded into SteamCMD subfolder to see if that happens

#

how soon did it crash for you?

signal thunder
#

About 60-120 seconds. I left "The Farm", went to the nearest Elixer Well, reached the bottom. Went left and within feet of the Root I'll crash.

#

Let me try something different.

#

Nope. Went the other way to the salt mines. Took 3 swipes at the nearest salt and crashed.

#

Let me try with another character.

blazing raptor
#

I left the farm, went to the Elixir Well right next to it. Was able to reach the bottom and clear the Root and still no crash

#

hold that thought...

signal thunder
#

I made it about 3 minutes with my other toon but it too eventually crashed.

blazing raptor
#

It crashed on me, after I had cleared out the Well and then went back to town and went to your storage chests. Restarted and went back to your storage chest and was able to open about half and it crashed again. I'm in your world again but on oposite side of the map, Fray Tavern and so far so good.

#

still so far so good. going to head back to The Farm

signal thunder
#

Interesting

blazing raptor
#

running around the farm seems to be ok. i haven't gone near the storage boxes yet

signal thunder
#

I went to lowlands spire, flew to the nearest flame altar, and it crashed while I was in there.

blazing raptor
#

opened all storage boxes this time with no issue. interesting indeed

#

and it crashed again, just standing still while at The Farm

#

hmmm

signal thunder
#

Bizarre

#

Same messages?

blazing raptor
#

yeah

signal thunder
#

Yup. Total match.

blazing raptor
#

The person I'm fixing to tag, please don't tag them. This is just to get their attention to look at this thread when they get a chance πŸ™‚

@jade cypress When you get the chance, please look at this thread. I am able to replicate the issue using his save file on a spun up server strictly for testing. The replication doesn't seem to be inventory or action specific. So far, no other reports of this issue. His server save is attached to this thread.

When the server crashes, the crash isn't reported to the enshrouded_server.log, it only appears in the console IF you manually open a command window, and type in enshrouded_server.exe. It does not show up if you double click enshrouded_server.exe because the window will close when the server crashes.

Attached are the 3 dumps genereated on the 3 times it crashed for me, plus the enshrouded_server logs

#

One thing to try. Try copying your enshrouded server folder outside your steamcmd folder. You have C:\SteamCMD and Enshrouded installed in a sub directory inside SteamCMD. Try copying/moving it to just C:\Enshrouded Server. Just make a mental note that next time you run steamcmd to update, your +forced_install_dir will need to be full path to the new location, IE, "C:\Enshrouded Server"

signal thunder
#

k

#

Let give that a spin

#

Deleted exisiting folder.
Installed fresh server to c:\enshrouded_server.
Started then stopped.
Copied json and savegame
Started and joined
Server crashed after about 90 seconds. Same messages.

blazing raptor
#

well, damn. it was a longshot. hehe

blazing raptor
#

Just to let you know, DyetPeppre, they are in Germany and may have already closed shop for the day πŸ˜„

signal thunder
#

@blazing raptor It appears that Hotfix #26 has resolved this.
