It's been a great while since I have done this quest. This is the one where you go across the lake in Pikesmede and it's on the other side, right?

yes, my char is turning its back to the pike city and im staring at opened chest for the quest

Have you completed this (or the other quest) on this character in another world?

hi... no, only this char done quest in my world... but what happened is that i activated a flame base at another JOIN server (to get free mats there) and many of my ex-quests became relisted (dont wanna do them all over again)

quest cave curiosities still listed (going to open the chest one more try)
LOL not even the dead soldier wanted to tell me about the Cave Curiosity.... so i looted the chest but quest remains active 😂

Okay so we might have a fix for you - If you open the chest, do not take the item from it, close the chest, then reopen and take the item - you should be able to complete the quest.
