first off, apologies that this has happened. Would it be possible to ask for some clarifications?
- By "destroyed", do you mean that she lost everything, including stuff she had equipped? Or just the stuff in the inventory?
- Would it be possible to explain what exactly "got weird" means? Did it lag? Did it crash?

What happened is she was putting gear on through the character menu and not straight from the inventory. She got to boots and when she put them on they disappeared. Then she looked at her inventory and everything was gone. I put all the gear in a box and did not gift. I guess the server had a hiccup or something?

That is hard to say. Do you have access to the server's logs? Would it be possible to send the server's Enshrouded.log file to us?

It wasn't a game killer amount of gear just want to see how I can prevent it in the future

Hm... nothing at first glance. Was the server reseted or did it got turned off and on again after what happened?

I think it sort of had a brown out if that makes sense. I think her save file had an issue with saving for a moment and the items got deleted. I just didn't know if it was a common problem for enshrouded dedicated servers to have issues when it saves, and if those character saves are different from world saves. It was only her gear nothing else about the character changed.

it's definitively not intended behavior and losing things as the game is running is a rather rare occurrence. It's the first time I heard of it, for example.
I asked that, however, because I wanted to know if the Enshrouded.log file has been replaced. If the server is still up ever since the issue happened, we can likely try to find out what happened. If the server was restarted, then the log file was replaced, in which case we may not get much info anymore.
If it's the former, please post the enshrouded.log here. If the latter, then if it happens again, please make sure to get the enshrouded.log as soon as it happens again and post it here.

We have been playing and it hasn't repeated. I know it wasn't during the server backup and was in a totally random time, but specifically during the first couple hours after character creation.
The thing that sparked it was having items earned through gameplay versus getting items out of a box. Getting them out was fine until the character had a progress save. I read that every 9 minutes or so the character saves progress?
I'll look through logs to see
