Been playing for quite a while demo and a bit of latest release.
Key issues interupting gameplay for me are:
-
Poor sense of aiming for thrusting attacks, lack of intuitive aiming patterns, very unreliable and unpredictable attacks.
-
Daggers are terrible in realistic scenarios, lack of unique animations for believable gameplay.
-
You cant rotate dagger and its impossible to stab when hugging an opponent..
-
Daggers also unreliable in very close clutching scenarios.
-
Incredible unreliable thrusting controls, very toght fraction of control to excecute specific motion attack.
-
Dagger animation is based on 1 handed sword therefore cant expect it to work properly. The most balanced and well polished weapon is ofc 1h sword.
-
Each axe needs slighlty altered animations to work favour its design. 1h Axes use 1h sword slashing animation , therefore the blade edge is not being roteted horizontally during 2/5 of whole animation and the blade edge is in correct position only during middle of animation.
-
Halberd animation is only balanced for halberds but not poleaxes or spears or other halberd type weapons.
-
Bec de cobin and poleaxes need custom animations.
Their swing motion is covering up only 60degree radius of effective damaging with enough force area. The other side of poleaxe(blunt type) has wrong animation to ise properly, unable to rotate because of Halberd type animation and lack of unique animation.
Thrusting atack is even worse than compared to sword. Swords have more motion radius in which you can direct your thrust. With poleaxes you aim only to the left side or midle, cant aim up low or to the right (assuming you hold weapon on default hand). -
Spear need custom slashing animations. And ofcourse more reliable intuitive aiming for its thrusting attacks.
