#Capture FPS ~10-15 lower than ingame FPS

I've been experiencing this problem off and on for a while now, I'm unsure of what triggers it.
I'm currently using a 2022 G14, 6700S with the dGPU mode enabled.

The captured FPS is always about 10-15 FPS lower than the ingame FPS captured by Riva Tuner.
I remember seeing a comment on reddit that addressed this issue as a problem with Windows, something Microsoft needs to fix. But considering that it isn't always a problem for me, maybe there's something to address here.

I rolled back my driver, and the problem seems to be fixed. However, This was also done before I made my post as well: Having the issue --> Roll back driver, fixed --> Suddenly having the issue again.

You're not using any FG?

#

Try fixed fg x1 multiplier.... upscaling without FG is sometimes buggy (the problem is not able to be replicated and hence the cause is unclear)

I've actually tried this before, and it did not work unfortunately.. This issue could have something to do with MPO ? If I let discord give me a desktop notification then tab into Elden Ring, the notification will be on my screen while Elden Ring is under it. This causes the capture fps to be perfect and normal until the notification disappears.

Additionally, opening up the inventory screen in Elden Ring (so that the mouse cursor can be moved around), the capture fps is also fixed. It's quite strange.

I'll try the 1x thing again to reverify

Tried adaptive to 60?

hmm, its heavier for sure

A bit of a shame too, I actually really like Magpie's FXAA haha

lethal fern
#

you can use reshade for that

warm gull
#

Yeahh I've gotten reshade to work with LS in the past, but I could never replicate the effectiveness of removing the aliasing as much as Magpie does 😡

#

I've experimented with higher values because at first I thought it was because the framerate was inconsistent

#

I've also tried scaling right as the game boots up to see if it was a GPU usage problem, but it makes no difference

#

It seems to just.. work when it wants to 😭

#

are there any wallpaper engines or presentation mode wallpaper set in windows?

warm gull
#

Nah, I only have a static image as my wallpaper

lethal fern
#

hmm πŸ€”

#

if rolling back the drivers didn't fix it, you should revert to the latest ones 🫠

#

Update/rolling back seems to fix it for a while

#

Reinstalling does not fix it ever

then its the bug that isn't yet resolved ig... only using upscaler bug πŸ€”

#

im out of ideas rn

warm gull
#

Yeaa this seems to be a pretty uncommon issue.. I really can only remember a single reddit post about it and some comment claiming it's some bug with windows. Ahh wish I could find it

#

I probably have to just cope 😭😭

#

The LS developer doesn't seem to have a direction with upscaling features anymore πŸ€”

lethal fern
#

He isn't interested ig

warm gull

Maybe a new way of capturing will come along in a further future.

Thanks for your help though.

If you happen to come across/think of any possible solutions or ideas, it would be greatly appreciated if you can come back here haha

lethal fern

yeah, sure

@lethal fern Sorry if you're bothered by the @, but I've made a pretty strange discovery.
I'm not sure if it's related to this issue though.

I've discovered that the captured framerate seems to be ~10 fps lower if I Alt+Tab into the game window and then activate LS. If LS is already scaling the game window and I Alt+Tab back into it, the captured framerate will also be ~10 fps lower. This is the same symptoms described earlier in this post.
