Hey guys im looking to buy a rx 6600xt as a secondary lsfg gpu to accompany my rtx 3070ti.
The thing is my mobos second slot is limited to pcie 3 x4 speeds, and my display is a 4k hdr 144hz TV.
ideally i would like to run the game at 72fps and fg from there to 144 but considering newer games most likely i would have to x3 fg from around 40 fps.
Is this a good idea or is the pcie 3 slot too much of a bottleneck?

I saw the spreadsheet comparing secondary gpus and the official guide so i know the 6600xt should be enough for my needs but i think that applies to pcie 4 x4 not pcie 3 x4

Based on the result from RX 6600m the pcie 3 penalty would be about 30% also add the HDR penalty of max 25% i would end up with 94.5 fps instead of 180 fps.

Your saying 4k 60 iz max any card can do at that pcie ver?
But what about the spreadsheet result for the Rx 5600xt, it mentions being ran at pcie 3 yet it has like 130 fps

That list Sage posted is for base fps transfer/copy from render to secondary. If you want to lock at sub 60 base fps it will work. But don't expect too much, latency will be still high with pcie 3x4

oh i get it, the higher fps i have to transfer to the secondary card the more it will strain the pcie lanes

Yes, ideally you want to find a board with pcie 4 x8/x8, because latency if depending on amount of "headroom" your lanes are having (best results are with sub 25% usage)
