New players are not primarily failing because one side is overpowered. They are failing because the match flow is hard to read. When bunnies are finding gears and do not know where they go, then the core progression loop is failing at the most basic level. That is the match objective itself becoming confusing and ultimately frustrating.
A new player should instantly understand:
- what they picked up
- where it goes
- what it unlocks
If they do not, they stop making intentional decisions and start wandering around with gears. Once that happens, everything else gets blamed. - the map feels confusing
- the Magician feels oppressive
- teammates feel useless
- the match feels unwinnable
My fix: Rabbit Compass
When a bunny picks up a gear, show a strong directional prompt or highlight toward the valid deposit location (Pictured)
Additionally, use an objective log that explicitly:
- Show progress clearly on the HUD (1F Central - Gate Gear with a Red X or Green Checkmark)
- This information could be listed directly under the map location that updates in real time depending where the bunny is
A change like this only improves the new player / less experienced struggling players experience and does not give any type of advantage to more experienced players as they already know where the gears go and communicate objectives being opened.
