Challenge yourself! Be creative, try to build a seaplane, the fastest plane you can do at sea level, or the heaviest, or a solar plane that can fly indefinitely flying heliosynchronously (heading west), or try to circumnavigate Kerbin as many times as possible without refuelling, or try to reproduce actual planes and even SpaceshipTwo, make a helicopter, a gyroplane, a high performance glider, an STOL champion, etc. Then again in other atmospheres!

STOL: short take off and landing
VTOL: vertical take off and landing
VTOHL: vertical take off and horizontal landing (like the shuttle)
JATO: jet assisted take off (for propeller planes)
RATO: rocket assisted take off
STOVL: short take off and vertical landing (some carrier operations with planes like Harrier or F-35)
STOBAR: short take off but arrested landing (early carrier operations with planes up to World War II)
CATOBAR: catapult assisted take off but arrested landing (modern horizontal carrier operations with planes)
