make sure your navball is set to target when you're close, then burn retrograde till it says 0m/s and then point at target and burn towards it

but i cant get to a close enough rendezvous in the first place

ill get to one thats 2 km away then ill go past the manuver node

im guessing your relative speed is high?

as in the video:

  1. match orbit inclination
  2. cross orbits
  3. wait for closest approach <2.3km
  4. retrograde to the target up to 0.1m/s so you are more less static
  5. use RCS to dock if needed

ok so where would you drag down your apoapsis to intersept the target.
