#Please add deadlines the roadmap

I think the problem is that they don’t know when they will be released. They have said in earlier dev logs and things like that that the order of the roadmap isn’t set in stone. For example if the entire community decides that they want multiplayer before interstellar travel is out intercept games will probably work to get multiplayer out before interstellar.
That and it's probably not as simple as deciding when something should be done. A lot of people gave them a bunch of flak for not delivering EA on the original date despite a studio rejig and a once-in-a-lifetime global health crisis; if I were them I'd defs play it safe and not try to appease folks with deadlines in the short term that they'll miss, as is always the case in game dev
Deadlines just means the community can be disappointed and impatient when delayed
If there’s no deadline announced then there’s less dissapiuntment and impatience
While I echo matems sentiments around the want to understanding timeframes I think the bigger issue is around transparency and communication in general. I cannot help but compare any development and community management team now to Coffee Stain Studios with Satisfactory who seem to be setting the gold standard when it comes to community updates and engagement (a weekly QnA livestream at least, with numerous video updates as well that shares failures as well as successes). All development has delays, its about how its communicated that matters. If anyone from intercept games is reading this, I cannot help but feel the sporadic text dump 'dev logs' are anaemic at best and not greatly received given the history of the launch - it feels as if, sometimes, these devlogs are stopgaps to hid things by drip feeding tinny bits of info. We need more detailed, substantial and consistent information from the dev team in a communication schedule. We want this game to be right, and 'right' takes time, we get that - just bring your customers and community along for the journey! God speed folks
Would be cool if we even know when updates are being made. Project zomboid has a "thursoid" where every week they give an update, no matter if its something fancy to show or its just "we've been doing optimization in the backend." Some consistency would be nice
we got a $50 game that hasn't changed much if at all since it's tech demo by a different dev in Feb of 2020, and it's being developed by a company that has a history of leaving their games to die unfinished. I doubt they know when the updates will come, if they will come at all.
wait so intercept is just going to let it die down and i spent my birthday money on nothing?
@fresh iris the devs have repeatedly said that they will be finishing it and not let it die. A lot of people let their excitement turn to impatience. The original KSP took years to be something that we would recognize. The fact that their initial release is actually as complete as it is is a testament to the amount of work they’ve put in. However, it is indeed early access meaning that it will be a long burn to completion
oh
well, they wouldn't exactly say if they were gonna let it die
I believe Nate or someone said something along the lines of "if we fail, we fail transparently"
thank god i thought i was going to waist my money
Would have been smarter to use your bday money on your birthday 2 years from now. Game may actually be worth it then
How long did it take for ksp to become something ‘recognizable’ and at what cost was it at that time? And keep in mind KSP2 has had over 3 and half years since it’s original announcement.
I’m sorry if that sounded like any frustration was directed towards you, Jrad, I am just disappointed in the dev team
Ksp was under 40 dollars (50 accounting for inflation iirc) until 1.0. So for all of early access it was cheaper than ksp 2
It’s also important to note that ksp 2 probably had a lot more time and resources put into it so it will be more expensive. That being said it still needs more time in the oven
its kind of worth it now tho i like the graphics
just download EVE, spectra, and scatterer from ckan
the thing it though is that i like volumetric anytthing like volumetric clouds thats why i got this game becasue i like volumetric stuff in gmaes
games
oh you already bought it
I was going to suggest getting the volumetric clouds from patreon
i cant afford that
hold up
oh
you can afford a $50 game, but not a $5 patreon subscription?
no over time the 5doler subrscription starts to cost more than 50 dollars
you only needed to pay for patreon once
bruh what
like you just download the volumetric clouds mod from patreon
and then you don't need to pay anymore
ok this is far off topic from what the thread is suppose to be about
thats true what even is the roadmap
Never/years from now
Dating sim when
Besides what has been said already. Adding deadlines/releasedates on all Early Access updates is against Steam's ToS
Why though
They can't even tell the dates of each updates.
I would be happy if the weekly news would include progress on all the things they work "in parallel" on. Like did they write a single line of code for science yet? We have 0 official info about it. It's rather vague and some people chose to believe they are working on it and other don't.
And they have shown plenty of images of science (mission station, new parts, AMA's about how it will work, etc). Also datamining supports this.
well
we have no damn idea when they are going to release, adding deadlines will make the devs more stressed about finishing on time
Thanks, but having to dig through some discord chat is not what I call transparent haha. That info alone would probably give a lot of steaming people some peace of mind.
PS. I've recently found out that its not allowed on Steam for early access titles to give offical deadlines. Steam got sued by some other company and lost. Had to refund games because the update came late or something. Not only by customers but by resellers that of course refund copies in the thousands.
Yeah
