When the interstellar update comes out, make it so that the tracking station only shows the existence of the solar systems without any details visible.The only thing shown is their position and that they exist. To view the appearance of the systems and planets hiding in the dark, the player must send spacecraft with some sort of camera. I believe this will enhance immersion and encourage players to explore and discover the unknown.
#To see interstellar worlds you have to send a probe there

I've thought about this for a while! Exploration is all about discovering the unknown, so the tracking station telling you everything removed so much of that. The science texts are the only thing to discover in KSP1. Some real cosmology with telescopes and cameras would be so rewarding!
there was a mod for this in KSP1. It'll probably be made for KSP2 eventually.
Research Bodies, it's called
it adds a "telescope" kinda function to the tracking station, which you have to use to look for other bodies and then study them before they'll show up in the tracking map.
Yo, thanks I was hoping something like that existed
Also mapping terrain by satellites similar to the mod Scansat would be fun and realistic
imagine ksp without maneuver nodes & tracking station
Bit late of a reaction, but from my understanding, the coming exploration/adventure mode is exactly that.
@noble hornet
but I may have understood it wrong
I hope it is like that. Also I hope that the science update won’t just be go to said planet and turn on this machine.I wish they would make it like a contract .It would make you build a probe and send it to Duna to analyse the surface.Then at some random point it could say that it found something interesting at this crater on the surface .Go send a rover and this specific equipment and find out what this anomaly is.In reward you would get some science points or some specific part.
