When I start the game, I'm met to the main menu with no buttons and can't do anything other than alt-f4 out of the game (see image). I've verified game files and that hasn't helped.

browse to where it was installed
delete any leftover files
reinstall
subtle frigate
Mods? Uninstall most recent and try again until it works. If no mods, just reinstall game and should work fine, as Silvia said.
