I prefer this method against Steam and Epic stores. 1. If the store account have issue you unable reach/update the game. In direct method you buy directly from the manufacturer. 2. I also have issue with Steam with KSP1 due mandatory upgrades. Mod stopped working and you unable start game without that. Direct method uses Xsolla use the two platform if you dont like those

I have got it via Direct. It is indeed the same as how KSP1 worked.
Was mostly curious if KSP2 was different, but I'm glad they kept this in!
