As title says, in the journey whenever I hunt it does not use the traps. Happened on couple goes.
I'm on Xbox Series X

They can be used in the trap sections but not when shooting as usual, if this is feature it should be not clearer as during rest of the game works differently.

That's how they work in this particular trail, it's unique to all of the OT trails. In Tall Tales traps are ONLY used at Trap waypoints, and not for normal hunting.
