#Refunds via Mollie - Clarification of API and Payment Processing

Hello,

I have a question regarding refunds via Mollie. If my inquiry is not appropriate for this channel, I would be happy to contact support via email.

We are considering implementing the Refund API to make processing refunds for our customers easier and faster. In this regard, I have the following question:

Currently, we transfer our Mollie balance to our bank account once a week. However, how does this work when we process a refund via the API? Will the amount be directly deducted from our bank account by Mollie, or will the refund be offset against the next transfer of funds?

Additionally, I am interested in how this is handled with other payment methods, such as PayPal. Would we need to use the direct PayPal API in this case, or can Mollie also handle PayPal chargebacks?

Heyo! Refunds will be taken out of your Mollie balance and not from your bank account. For PayPal, we use your PayPal balance instead. If there's insufficient funds on your balance, we'll hold the refund until new money comes in, either through a top up by yourself or through new sales.
